After all the driving, countryside, small towns and day trips, we finally reached the part of the trip I had been looking forward to the most, three full days exploring Edinburgh.
Although this wasn’t my first time in Edinburgh, it felt completely different coming back with my family.

The last time I was here, I explored the city in a different way, but this time I wanted to take things a little slower and simply enjoy the city together.
Edinburgh is one of those cities where you don't really need to rush from one attraction to another.
Just walking through the streets is already an experience.
The old stone buildings, narrow lanes, grand architecture and little corners around the city make you feel like you have stepped into another era.
And of course, having my friend, Zay with us made the two days even more enjoyable.
Since she knew Glasgow and the surrounding area well, it was nice having someone familiar to help us navigate around and share little stories and recommendations along the way.
With eight of us travelling together, our days were naturally a mixture of sightseeing, walking, eating, shopping and taking plenty of family photos.
My parents were also surprisingly easy-going throughout the trip, so we could pretty much follow whatever plan we had without too much complaining.
We had three full days in the city, which gave us enough time to see some of Edinburgh's most famous landmarks while still leaving room to wander around without feeling too rushed.
So, let's finally explore Edinburgh; from the iconic Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle to the beautiful streets, viewpoints, food and all the little moments we enjoyed along the way.

Our first stop was Victoria Street, and honestly, I can understand why it is one of the most photographed streets in Edinburgh.
The moment I saw it, I immediately loved it.
The street itself is not very long, but it has so much character.
What makes it special is the beautiful curve of the road. Instead of being a straight street, it gently bends along the hillside, which creates a very unique view from both the top and the bottom.

The colourful shopfronts are another reason why so many people stop here for photos.
The bright colours stand out beautifully against the historic stone buildings, making the whole street feel cheerful and lively.
Everywhere you look, there seems to be another nice photo spot.

Of course, we spent quite some time here taking pictures.
Whether you are standing at the top looking down the curve of the street, or at the bottom looking up towards the colourful buildings, the views are equally beautiful.
Beyond the photos, I also enjoyed simply walking around and looking at the different shops.
There are plenty of interesting independent stores, souvenir shops, cafés, and little corners to explore. The atmosphere felt lively but not overwhelming, and it was easy to just slow down and enjoy being there.
It is one of those places where almost every angle looks good in photos.
It was charming, colourful, and full of character, exactly the kind of place that makes Edinburgh so memorable.
There is also a staircase that leads up to the upper level of the street, and this became another one of my favourite photo spots.
From up there, you can look down over the colourful shopfronts, watch people walking along the curved street below, and appreciate the unique layout of Victoria Street from a different perspective.
The view from above really shows off the charm of the street and makes for some great photos.

As we continued our walk, we reached what was probably one of the most popular and crowded areas in Edinburgh.
The streets were full of visitors from all over the world, with people walking around, taking photos, shopping, and enjoying the lively atmosphere.
Even though it was crowded, there was a lot of energy and excitement in the air, making it a fun place to explore.

One thing I really enjoyed was the street performances along the way.
There were musicians, entertainers, and performers attracting crowds wherever they went.
I especially remember seeing a man wearing a traditional Scottish kilt performing on the street.
It felt like a classic Scottish experience and added even more character to the city.

After spending some time soaking up the atmosphere, we continued walking and arrived at St. Giles' Cathedral, one of Edinburgh's most famous landmarks.

The cathedral is located right along the Royal Mile, so it is hard to miss.
From the outside, the architecture is already impressive, especially its distinctive crown-shaped spire which has become one of the symbols of Edinburgh.

Since admission was free, we decided to step inside for a look.
The moment we entered, everything became much quieter.
The busy sounds from the streets outside seemed to disappear instantly.
Inside, the cathedral felt peaceful and grand at the same time. The beautiful stained-glass windows, high vaulted ceilings, stone columns, and intricate details made it a fascinating place to explore.

What I love about visiting churches in the UK is that each one has its own unique character and history. Even if you're not particularly interested in religion, it's hard not to appreciate the craftsmanship and architecture.
We spent some time walking around, admiring the details, and taking in the atmosphere.
It was a nice break from the crowds outside and gave us a chance to slow down for a moment before continuing our Edinburgh adventure.

I think one of the reasons I was so excited to visit Edinburgh again was because of One Day.
I really love both the movie and the drama, so knowing that so many scenes were filmed around Edinburgh made this trip feel a little more special for me.
This time, I wasn't just visiting Edinburgh as a tourist, I also wanted to see some of the places I had seen on screen.
This time, I wasn't just visiting Edinburgh as a tourist, I also wanted to see some of the places I had seen on screen.
So one of the first One Day locations I wanted to visit was Warriston Close.
It is basically a narrow old stairway leading down from the Royal Mile, and it may not look like a major attraction at first.
But for me, seeing it in real life was quite exciting because this is the place where Dexter and Emma run down the steps in One Day.

And the funny thing is, when we got there, Lik and I couldn't resist pretending to be Dexter and Emma! We ran down the stairs together, trying to recreate the scene from the movie and drama.
Of course, we probably looked a little silly, but we had so much fun doing it.

I think if you, like my parents, haven't watched One Day, you might just walk past this little stairway without giving it much thought.
But when you're a fan, suddenly a simple old staircase feels completely different. For me, being able to stand there and recreate one of the scenes made the visit even more memorable.

It was one of those little moments during the trip that made me think, "Okay, I'm really here!"
Right opposite the stairs is Milkman, a popular little coffee shop that was recommended by Zay.
Since we were already there, of course we had to stop by and check it out.

The café is small and cosy, and I really liked the look of it.
After our little One Day re-enactment, it was nice to grab a coffee and take a short break before continuing our walk around Edinburgh.

It was actually quite a nice combination, visiting a filming location I was excited about, then having coffee just across the street.
Definitely one of those little stops that made our Edinburgh walk more enjoyable.

Of course, we had to take a group photo before continuing our walk.
With eight of us travelling together, getting everyone into one photo is always a little challenging, but somehow we managed!

Looking at this photo now, I think this is what I love most about travelling with my family.
It’s not always about the places we visit or how many attractions we manage to see.
It’s simply having everyone together, exploring somewhere new, laughing, taking photos, and making memories along the way.
This photo may look like just a simple group picture, but for me, it captures a really special part of our trip, all eightof us, together in Edinburgh.
By lunchtime, we were getting a little hungry, so we stopped at The Booking Office for lunch.
This turned out to be a really nice place to eat, especially for a big group like us.
What I liked most was that the prices were quite reasonable compared with many places in Edinburgh city centre, so it didn’t feel too expensive even with seven of us.

The menu also had a good variety, so everyone could find something they liked.
After all the walking around Edinburgh, it was nice to sit down, have a proper meal and take a little break before continuing with our sightseeing.

And there was a nice surprise just outside the restaurant.
Once we stepped out of The Booking Office, we had a beautiful view looking up towards Edinburgh Castle.
The castle sits high above the city, and from the street below, the view was really impressive.

The weather was actually quite warm for me that day, with blue skies and plenty of sunshine.
We were honestly so lucky with the weather throughout this trip.
We were honestly so lucky with the weather throughout this trip.
We hardly had any rain, which was quite surprising because when people think of the UK, they often imagine grey skies and gloomy weather.
But we got really lucky.
The sunshine made Edinburgh look even more beautiful, especially with the old buildings and bright blue sky in the background.
It also made walking around the city so much more enjoyable.

I loved seeing how everyone was enjoying the good weather too.
People were sitting and lying on the grass, having picnics, chatting with friends, or simply relaxing in the sunshine.
It gave the city such a nice and relaxed atmosphere.

Of course, I couldn’t just watch everyone lying on the grass and not join them!
So here I am, doing exactly what the locals were doing, lying down on the grass and enjoying the sunshine. When in Edinburgh, right?
We walked quite a long way to get to the Statue of Sir Walter Scott, which stands at the base of the famous Scott Monument.
By this point, we had already done quite a lot of walking around Edinburgh, so our feet were definitely getting tired!
But when we finally reached the monument, it was worth the walk.
Right behind the statue is the Scott Monument, and it is hard to miss!
The tall, dark Gothic-style monument really stands out against the Edinburgh skyline.

We walked around it and took a few photos, but I think what impressed me most was just how tall and detailed it is.
There are so many little carvings and statues built into the monument that you can spend quite some time looking at it.
It is also located in a busy part of the city, surrounded by shops, streets and people, so it was nice to just stop for a while and take everything in.
Another Edinburgh landmark checked off our list!

As we continued walking, we came across another really nice spot where we could look over the rooftops of Edinburgh.
From up here, we could see rows and rows of the city’s beautiful old buildings, with their stone walls, chimneys and different rooftops stretching across the city.
I really loved the view because it showed Edinburgh from a completely different angle.

The old buildings looked so charming together, especially under the blue sky and sunshine.
It almost felt like looking at a postcard of Edinburgh.
There was something really special about seeing the historic side of the city all from one spot.

Of course, we stopped here for photos too, actually, we took quite a lot!
Everyone was finding different angles and poses because the whole view was just too nice to miss.
I think these unexpected viewpoints are one of my favourite parts of exploring Edinburgh.
You don't always have to look for a famous attraction; sometimes simply stopping somewhere and looking over the city gives you one of the nicest views of the day.

And that pretty much wrapped up our first full day exploring Edinburgh.
We walked a lot today, from Victoria Street and St. Giles’ Cathedral to all the little streets, One Day filming locations and beautiful viewpoints we came across along the way.

But our Edinburgh adventure wasn't over yet.
We still had another two full day to explore the city tomorrow, so it was time to head back, rest our tired feet and get ready for another day in Edinburgh! XOXO
