Premiere Screening @ One Night in Taipei 台北夜蒲團團轉

I usually spend my time alone if I want to watch the Hong Kong movies at cinemas because people around me refuse to pay for the tickets.
Frankly, I understand their thoughts about it, however if we do not give our support to them now, probably soon or later we will not have any good production of Cantonese movies in future.
I believe sometimes little supports can make a big difference.
Well, say me 港产片支持者 (supporter of Hong Kong movies) #lol

THANKS to Seeties Malaysia and the Grabnocost that I had the opportunity to watch the special screening of One Night in Taipei 台北夜蒲團團轉 on Wednesday night, before everybody else at GSC Mid Valley.

One Night in Taipei, is a new work-piece from Wilson Chin Kwok-Wai, the same director of the movie of Lan Kwai Fong.
The story line is slightly same as Lan Kwai Fong, only difference is the entire story happens at the clubs in Taiwan instead of Hong Kong.

The story revolves 4 guys from Hong Kong and Taiwan.
It starts with Caprio, who comes from Hong Kong to meet and want to make a proposal to his girlfriend who traveled in Taiwan.
Unexpected things happen on his first night when the proposed ring falls down to storm drain, whereby he met a Taiwanese guy, JingGua, who offers to help him retrieve the ring.
They both then bump into another 2 guys; Sky and Dudebro Hui; hereafter 4 of them create an absurd and funny adventure in one night with the girls in Taiwan.

Among the 4 guys, I enjoy very much watching the funny acting from 6 wing 陸永 in this movie.
Many of you might already know he is one funny actor in other movies, yet I guess his funny acting in this movie has made a deep impression on the audience again.
Most of his scenes has laughed me out loud! #lol

Throughout this movie, I have also observed the differences in terms of the characters between Hong Kong and Taiwanese girls, which is quite true to agree to some extent.
Overall, it is quite an entertaining movie which can make you happy and cheer you up!

One Night in Taipei is out now in all cinemas!
Go grab you tickets and enjoy the funny and sexy commercial comedy on your coming weekend!

GOOD WEEKEND, peeps!

Eat at J's @ Taman Sea

It's almost a year since I came back from Melbourne.
Ahh! I miss everything in Melbourne; especially sitting at a cafe located on the outskirts of the city, such a calm and relaxing lifestyle.
I wish I can travel to this lovely place sometimes this year again. #wishpleasecometrue
However, it was lucky to come upon a newly open cafe in town when I was recalling the memories in Melbourne.

Eat at J's cafe is a little cafe hidden at the end of the shop-lot of Taman Sea.
It is a new cafe in town which just started it's business in a month ago.

The entrance has an outstanding decoration with all the wooden walls, which enhance the cafe's unique and retro feel.
It's a perfectly pleasant little space from the look of the outside.

This new cafe which just opened a month ago was operated by Sue and her partner, Nicholas.
Sue is an expert in making cakes and pastries, while Nicholas is the main chef of all the other dishes on their menu.
They both decided to open this cafe is because Sue wishes to bring the cafe concept from Melbourne back to KL, so that the customers who visit the cafe can relax over a coffee or drink at a relaxing environment .

I love the interior although it doesn't have any big constructions and engineering works.
The exterior brick walls gives a sense of warmth and harmony.
The ceiling without plastering matches well to the overall and gives a brand new look while preserving the history and original character.
Overall, the cafe has a very well done interior which makes the room feel cozy and welcoming.

Well, let's start the menu of the day by introducing the special beverages that available at J's.
Crush Pure Cold Pressed Smoothie is made from FRESH fruits 100% with absolutely no added sugars, additives, preservatives, concentrates or water.
It comes in 6 flavours for you to choose; Banana-Rama, Super Spinach, Citrus Goji-Ra, Mango Fresh, Jack-fruit Twist and Gua-Pel.
A bottle cost @ RM10.50, which I think is pretty fair enough for a healthy and refreshing drink for a day!

If you like something fizzy, the Tapping Tapir, with lemonade & Lengkuas @ RM10.50 could be a choice to hydrate you on the hot day?

Cold Brew Latte @ RM12 is the most favourite of mine!
I guess not only for me, but also for those who love coffee like I do.
It is not a sweet coffee and doesn't have a strong taste, but the specially coffee brew by themselves will definitely leave an impression in you.

Coffee is not your choice? Then maybe a cup of rich hot chocolate for your relaxing weekend?

The food menu started with the Egg on Toast.
It is a simple toast dish which consists of scramble eggs, smoke salmon and fresh tomatoes.
Well, it probably look simple and standard like the other cafes can offer, but bear in mind that the salmon tastes real fresh on the toast.

The Pumpkin Carrot Soup is delicious with it's thick and rich texture, the only thing I found is it has a bit too much of pepper which has covered the pumpkin taste.

The grilled salmon on bed of rockets, would be a must try for the salmon fans.
I love how the grilled salmon mixed so well with the roasted potatoes, pearly barley and cherry tomatoes, especially the pearl barley has gained the most attention of it.

Okay, if you have the chance to drop by at J's, you must try out this dish because this is my most favourite after all! #haha
If you know me well or just a bit, you may know that I don't like chicken.
But! this Honey Balsamic Chicken has melted my heart on my first bite.
The well marinate chicken with their in-house sauce is real special, and the meat is well cooked to reach it's great tenderness and juiciness!
Plus the combination of the mash potato underneath the meat, and side dishes with roasted pumpkin and green beans have really fulfilled my appetite very well!

Aglio Olio with prawns, olive oil, sauteed garlic and chili flakes, is a common spaghetti that you can meet at other shops.
My own taste told me that it is a bit tasteless and dry, I maybe just prefer a bit more moist one on any spaghetti dishes.

Penne Meatball could be my second favourite after the balsamic chicken.
It is made with their handmade meatballs with the blended tomato sauce and fresh basil.
Well, most of the sauces and spices from J's are made out from their in-house recipe, where you won't be able to find from any other places.

There are also some Asian foods available at J's if you are not into with Western foods.
One of the highlight from the Asian selections is the Lamb Roganjosh.
The lamb is yum with their own recipe of spices and herbs, also the meat is very tender and soft.
If you like lamb, I am sure you will not resist to have one piece and another piece again!

I was quite excited when I met this Spicy Deep Fry Chicken Wing on the table. #lol
It is hardly for me to say no to all chicken wings because I love them!
This spicy chicken wing has it's own special taste which is a little bit spicy and a little bit sweet.

Lastly, let's move on to their cake and pastry selections.

As mentioned, Sue baked all the cakes and pastries on her own, so the dessert menu will change from week to week so that the customer will not feel bored with the everyday same menu.
The cake of today is Chocolate Brownie with Walnut on the topping.
The brownie from Sue is only served by the cake itself whereby the brownies from others are always come with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
It looks a bit dry from the outlook, but the moist of the texture will come after after your first bite.

The Red Velvet from the menu is a bit over my sweet limit.
I like dessert, but I don't like over sweetened dessert because I was trained by my family that do not take too sweet since I was a kid.

When you dine in at J's, you will always get a free-flow of water with lemon at the front counter which I appreciated the most.
I always feel upset if I need to pay for a glass of water at some cafes and restaurants.

It was a nice hangout on that Sunday with a group of old and new friends.
Thanks Eat at J's for the hospitality and I trust all of us have a good bonding experience at this lovely cafe.

Great satisfaction fix on my face! #lol

New Month, New Chapter!

Hello August!
August is not only a brand new month, but also a brand new chapter for me too.
I have quit my full time job, and yeap I am now jobless with so much free time all by myself.
It's a big challenge for me to have such decision, as I have been working there for 7 years plus.
It is not easy to put a full-stop on this job since the 7 years experience had lead me to quite a comfortable zone.
Some friends said that they admire my courage to quit and take on a new journey, YES I kinda agree with it too. #lol

This job consider my first job when I stepped into the payment salary society after I finished my degree.
I was glad that my boss was dare to take me as his staff since I have no "real" experience at my age 27 that time.
I truly appreciate for all the rare opportunity and trust he gave to me throughout the years; traveled to different countries and met different people, worked independently by my own, and built up self-confident in front of the customers and suppliers.
I have to admit that I have grown up so much all the way through these interesting and enjoyable experiences.
Also, to my Dutch partner who worked closely with me everyday; appreciate for all the cares and guidance no matter in my working or personal life; he always acted like my big brother to make sure I am always in a good form.
My heart was truly touched when I received the big bouquet flowers and letters from him on my last day at work.
This is way too much to recognize my works and efforts! #thankyouverymuch
Also, a big thanks to my customers and suppliers who all touching and appreciation emails to me. I am truly blessed with all the warm messages. I seriously didn't know that I was so much been treasured and valued until the day I signed off.

I have no idea what's coming up next on my new chapter, but I would want to take this long break to relax, and enjoy myself.
I know it's gonna be a big move for me no matter I am going for a new job or start my own business; however, I would have faith in myself and I have to truly confident in all that I am going to do.

Well, one chapter has ended, another has begun.
Goodbye to my fruitful 7 years, and I am excited to welcome my new chapter in my life! #bigsmileasalways

Where to drink Korean Soju in KL @ Sola-Pocha

I always look for places to drink Korean Soju at any pubs or bars in town, but it is difficult to get one even though I have searched for it many times.
Me and Kay came across Sola-Pocha which located at Mont Kiara, while we were looking for a Korean restaurant for our dinner.
When I saw the shop name with a tagline "Korea Snack and Soju Cocktail", I was very excited and really can't wait to jump into it!

Sola-Pocha located just right next to Maybank, which is pretty easy to recognize because the shop can be seen far from the main street.

It is located at second floor; in that case, the place doesn't have a big space, but the entire space is well organized with right design of tables and chairs.
I always appreciate any restaurants or cafes with an open kitchen concept. Not sure why, probably just have more confident on their food cleanliness.

I have told by the staffs that this wall was decorated by the boss with beautiful pictures and postcards from all over the world.

Well, although the shop has quite a limited space, but it has one private room that you can book for a small gathering with your families and friends.

It includes 2 dining sections; it has one indoor and one outdoor whereby the outdoor one also has a good air-conditioning, so no more worry about the hot weather.
We were satisfy enough for the arrangement on that evening because we got an outside table right at the end corner.
We can speak and laugh out loud with none of others business. #haha

As soon as we settled down, we were served by the Banchan (side dishes) with three kinds of salads, and a bowl of kimchi soup.
The salads are quite stimulate our appetite, but we found the soup is a bit tasteless. #roomtoimprove

We ordered our first cocktail soju with Yogurt Soju @ RM33,
Jezz! It was very delicious and a must try for anyone who isn't so like the green bottle of "fire water" :p
The yogurt has covered the clean and neutral taste of the original soju smell.

It worth a big thumb up from me!

There aren't any main courses available at the shop, yet just small dishes and snacks.
We ordered Cheese Buldok @ RM40 as we thought this should be filling up our stomach.
Speaking frankly, this boneless chicken cooked with cheese was pretty good, but it is TOO spicy.
My level of spice isn't that low; I take chili padi with all my meals, yet this spice was really challenged me up!
You probably won't aware of the spice from your first few bites, but the burning feeling in your mouth started after few minutes later. SUPERB SPICY!

It would be good that the chef can come up different spicy levels to the customers, if not I am afraid the locals aren't able to accommodate with this dish.
Quite wasted without any improvement as this is quite a nice dish hey, except the spice.

To calm down the spice, we ordered a simple Rolled Omelette with Cheese @ RM35.
We think it is a bit costly because it is just a simple fried egg wrapped with fish meat.

Forgot to mention, there are 4 cocktail flavours up for your choices; Yogurt, Lemon, Conna Generalis, and Green Plum.
We tried the Conna Generalis after the Yogurt as Green Plum wasn't available on that day.
Sorry to say that this Conna Generalis is not our cup of tea, the taste is almost like the cough syrup we get have from the clinic.
Kay doesn't like it, so I have to finish the whole bottle by myself. :(
Next time, I am gonna try the lemon flavour as I am pretty sure the lemon shall mix well with Soju.

Despite the foreigner workers cannot understand English well, I am happy with the Korean waitresses.
They both have good services with helpful and pleasant attitude. They came up to us at least 2 times to make sure everything was okay to us.
Plus, they also served us a plate of melon to fresh us up after the heavy dishes.

We had a nice evening at this little place which owned by pure Korean.
Surprisingly, we were the only Malaysian visited the shop, whereby the entire shop was filled with all Koreans.
We have a kind of feeling that we are drinking Korean Soju in real Korea. #lol

Will I come back for the second visit? Definitely a YES!
Appreciate such precious place for a bottle of Soju after long day work!

To Kay, thanks for the lovely hangouts during your trip in KL, I will miss you to max till our next catch up again! #muacksss
