Chivas Regal Mizunara @ The World’s First Luxury Whisky

Konnichiwa from Scotland!
Are you a whisky fans?
If you are truly a whisky lover, don't miss this post as this is a new adventure into a new era of whisky world!
2 weeks ago, I was invited by Pernod Ricard, a wholly owned subsidiary and regional entity of wine and spirits which created by the merger of Ricard and Pernod since 1975, to renew my knowledge about the new whisky in Malaysia, Chivas Regal Mizunara.
For an alcoholic like me (I drink on every weekend), so it's definitely a hands up for me to check out the Japanese contemporary theme with the new Chivas Regal Mizunara for that evening. :)

Chivas Regal, the world’s first luxury whisky, has announced the launch of Chivas Regal Mizunara in Malaysia.
Chivas Regal Mizunara was inspired by a trip that Master Distiller Colin Scott took to Japan, which then originally released for the Japanese market.
It is the world’s first Scotch whisky to be selectively finished in sought-after Japanese Mizunara oak casks, and marked a new milestone in innovative whisky-making when it was first unveiled exclusively in Japan in 2013.

After a successful launch of Chivas Regal Mizunara in Japan, they decided to launch in France and Thailand.
And, Malaysia is lucky enough to be the next as it would be launched in limited quantity spreading across the Central Region, Northern Region, Southern Region and Ipoh.
The launch had started since March 2018, so true lover of whisky drinker don't miss the chance to have a taste of this unique blend!

The process of crafting Chivas Regal Mizunara is highly bespoke, involving the introduction of Mizunara oak casks to the finishing process.
The Mizunara oak casks are crafted from trees indigenous to Japan, which are extremely scarce, and renowned for their distinctive porous nature.
These make whiskies finished in Mizunara casks some of the most coveted amongst whisky blenders and collectors.

Pernod Ricard Malaysia Brand Manager Benedict Yong said: “The whisky world is wide and varied, steeped in craftsmanship. Japanese powerhouse whiskies were inspired by Scottish whiskies to begin with.
Now we have an instance of paying homage the other way around, a blend inspired with a Japanese influence. To say is its it is an exciting addition to our lineup here in Malaysia is an understatement.”

Sandy Hyslop, Chivas Brothers Director of Blending: “Among blenders, Mizunara oak casks are highly respected for two main reasons: first, they are incredibly rare; and secondly, once sourced, they present complex challenges for ageing whisky. The porous nature of the oak results in a greater influence of flavour from the casks, meaning the quality of each batch must be meticulously and individually assessed.
However, if the process is mastered, the resulting whisky is truly unique, as showcased by Chivas Regal Mizunara. I hope whisky lovers in Malaysia will enjoy this truly distinctive, luxury blend: a new experience within the Chivas Regal range, and a fitting Scottish tribute to this exceptional Japanese oak.”

If you have the chance to experience the Chivas Regal Mizunara, you will find out it has a rich and fruity smell on the nose, presenting aromas of pear and orange, while the taste is smooth and rich with honey sweetness and a trace of hazelnut.
Mizunara casks are celebrated for imparting a subtle yet distinctive spicy finish, with Chivas Regal Mizunara showcasing this unique influence on the smooth, generous flavour profile of the Chivas house style.
Indeed, Chivas Regal Mizunara is a blend of the finest single malt and grain whiskies.

Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised with the tasting experience.
I think the taste is much suitable for those ladies who prefer a sweet and fruity taste.
The blend goes well with just ice or with a mixer, which will leave a smooth mild sweetened taste in the mouth after few swigs.
Try it, and you will know what I'm saying! :)
