Fatt Kee Roast Fish 发記招牌特色烤鱼 @ Pudu KL

After hearing many good compliments about the Fatt Kee Roast Fish at Pudu KL, finally I got a chance to try out their signature roast fish.
Not only that, I also had a try on their new jumbo seafood platters!
It was soooo good!
After my first attempt, I think Fatt Kee Roast Fish is a perfect place for all the seafood lovers out there, and I've got a few recommendations for you if you ever eat there before.
But, let's start with the interiors first.:)

It's easy to get the location of Fatt Kee by using Waze.
However, it is difficult to find a parking spot close by.
Do expect to spend extra times on looking for a spot for your vehicle. :p

I visited the restaurant 2 times, and I noticed the crowds always start at nearly 6pm.
If you are afraid of the long wait, maybe you should plan your dinner a bit earlier on that day, especially during the weekends. :)

It is even crowded at the roadside stall, which is the first outlet before the air-conditioned shop.
The roadside stall located just right outside of the second outlet.
Btw, all the red banners are easy for you to recognize the stall.

Shall we start with the latest signature menu from Fatt Kee,first? #hehe
The jumbo signature seafood platter comes in 3 different sizes where allow you to make choices based on the number of guests you have.

Small Jumbo Seafood Platter is good to serve in between 2 - 6 people.
It is RM288 without fish head and RM299 with fish head.

Medium Jumbo Seafood Platter is enough for 6 - 10 people.
It is RM488 without fish head and RM499 with fish head.

Large Jumbo Seafood Platter is good to order if you have 8 - 10 people.
It is RM788 without fish head and RM799 with fish head.

All the jumbo seafood platters come with the same type of seafood, only served with different amount.
The 8 different seafood include big crabs, tiger shrimps, big head shrimps, mussels, squids, lobsters, clams, scallops, and a lot of bean curds.
Fish head is all up to your choice for your dinner table, but I personally prefer the fish head because I like to taste the sweetness of the fish in the broth.

If you think their jumbo seafood is too big for you, you can always go back to their signature seafood dishes.
Triple Seafood Option @ RM88 and Triple Seafood Option with Fish @ RM99.
The main three seafood choices include big prawns, lala and squids.

However, if you are looking for extra dishes, you can have the add ons side dishes such as lala @ RM20, squids @ RM20, Enoki mushroom @ RM3 and Tofu @ RM3.

Here's come the signature roast fish platter from Fatt Kee.
The platter covers not only the main seafood such as prawns, lala and squids, but also choices of special fish like Jin Feng Fish @ RM138, You Pan Fish @ RM148 and Ma Yao Fish @ RM148.

There are different spiciness levels available for the broth, starting from level 1 till level 7.
This special red chili is made with different chilies from Malaysia, China, Vietnam and Brazil, so it can be the one and only one chili in Malaysia.
I would suggest you to start with level 1, and you can slowly move on to the next level if you can take more spices after the first level.
There is no extra charges for adding extra chilies from level 1 till level 4, yet there would be extra charge from level 5 onwards @ RM10.
Based on my experience, I can only take up to level 2 as I think level 3 is way tooooooo spicy and when the spicy taste becomes too strong, the dish will taste off.

Signature Treasure Wok @ RM188 is truly the best wok with many different fresh seafood such as big prawns, squids, scallops lala, abalones and  mussels.
I really enjoy the seafood broth which comes out naturally sweet.
Well, I think the picture has explained all. :)

There are also some dishes which is suitable for non-seafood eaters, such as Hotpot Spicy Chicken @ RM48 (small) and RM68 (large).

Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaves with Garlic and Chili Padi @ RM15.
I almost can finish the whole plate myself because this is one of my favourite vegetable dish compare to the others.

A simple Fried Omlette @ RM10.

It's definately an interesting dining experience for me at Fatt Kee Roast Fish, especially with their new jumbo seafood platters.
This is truly my first time having such big platter right in front of me! #lol
As I always very proud to say I am good in taking spicy food, it is obviously a good opportunity to try out my spice-handling abilities too.
So, do try it once yourself no matter if you are a seafood lovers or a spicy food lovers!

I spent my half CNY 2017 @ Sunway Medical Hospital

Gong Xi Fa Cai, everyone!
How's everyone Chinese New year holiday?
Mine did not come to the way I expected to, so it was really disappointing.
If you are on my Instagram, you probably noticed I was being admitted to hospital halfway through my Thailand trip.
The trip was original planned to come back home on the 6th Feb, but I bought a new ticket from Chiang Mai on the 2nd Feb.
The new ticket costed me a bomb! #heartpain

The same pus infection in between my left eye and nose happened again on the 10th day during the trip.
It repeated attacks of a red, painful swelling at the corner of my left eye.
Lik and my family worried so much, and they forced me to come back urgently.
This time, I admitted to Sunway Medical Hospital instead of Pantai Bangsar Hospital.
Not because Pantai isn't good enough, it's because I was recommended to an eye specialist from Pantai to get the right treatment for my tear dust system.

Dr. Sree Kumar Palani is an Oculoplastic surgery and Ophthalmology.
He is very nice, patient, and friendly; that's my first impression when I first met him.
He explained to me very well what causing the pus infection again and again.
My tear duct system was blocked, which causing watering eye and pus around the eye.
If you asked what actually causing it happened, well doc said that probably due to my body structure.
Maybe I was borned to have a narrow tear duct system.
So, a minor surgery need to be done, whereby make a new passage from the tear duct system into the nose.

Dr. Koay Cheng Boon is an ENT plus head & neck surgery.
He is a very straight forward doctor whom will tell you what to do and what not to do.
Sometimes he can be harsh in his words, but no doubt he is a professional doctor.
I couldn't agree more with him that if I take extra attention on my watering eyes earlier, I wouldn't have to go through so much of pains with the needles and injections.

Another doctor that I want to mention is Dr. Bachan Singh, an anesthesiology doctor whom I met at the operation theater.
He is such a wonderful doctor to have.
He knew I was very scared about the pain of being injected, so he patiently calmed my fears before the injection.
I truly thanks for his skilled, compassionate and understanding.

To the doctors, you all are so great! Thank you very much for the excellent cares!

I stayed at the hospital for the antibiotics injection before the surgery because the pus infection was pretty bad; taking antibiotics wouldn't help.
I was at ward 4A.
This time I get a 2 bedded room, instead of a single bed room.
After spending so much on the air ticket, I don't really want to top up for the room while my insurance coverage only up to RM200 per day.
It was truly glad to have the entire nurses and staffs at ward 4A because everyone of them are very nice and helpful during my stays.
They go above and beyond my expectations as they truly show a genuine concern and interest in taking care of the patients.
Thank you very much! I love all for your cares, kindnesses and loves!

It's always good to have something to compare with.
By looking at the treatments and surgical I had at both hospitals, I think Pantai has high charges compared to Sunmed.
Though the admission procedure took a bit slow, in fact both hospitals have a very slow admission procedure.
Patients need to lie down and get some well-deserved rest.
I just don't understand why can't they be considerate by arranging the patients to a special lounge (at least) while waiting for the approvals, rooms ready etc.

Now, I am resting well at home.
I hope I will get well soon because I can't wait to kick back on my routine busy lifestyle.
Till then, we meet again!
XOXO

Izakaya Hanako 花子 Authentic Japanese Food @ Bangkok

Bangkok has lots of Japanese restaurants.
It's easy to get a Japanese restaurant when you walk on the street, especially streets at Sukumvit and Silom.
Sometimes, you may have thought that you are in Japan. #haha
So, while we were walking to the Health Land, a massage centre from Terminal 21 shopping mall, we stumbled upon an authentic Japanese restaurant at a quiet backstreet.
Btw, if you are interested to know about the massage place I go in Bangkok, you can read my previous post at here (though it is written in Chinese).

Since David is a Japanese food lover, so we thought why not we experiment with some Japanese food in Bangkok for this time.
That's how Izakaya Hanako 花子 turned out to be our choice. :)

The restaurant is located on the top floor.
The building looks a bit old, but overall it is clean and nice.
The wooden interior makes you feel as if you are in Japan.
During my visit, there are loads of Japanese here: I would say more than 80% of them are Japanese.

It's always a hard decision when you have 15 pages of menu to choose from.
We took sometimes to order what we want, while the staff served us a complimentary starter with Japanese tofu minced pork.

Ebi Ten Maki @ THB120, is a rice rolled in dried seaweed with shrimp tempura.
I really love the crunchy texture of the shrimp tempura inside the roll.

This is steak, but not beef, it's pork!
Ton Teki @ THB150, is a very tender and tasty grilled pork with a kind of soy sauce.
Love it! Love it!

Lik always like soba, he said this Cha Soba @ THB140, is fresh and chewy with a grainy texture.
Yet, he thought it's nothing really special about it as we can actually get a very good soba in KL too.

Saba Shio @ THB170, which is a grilled Mackerel with salt.
It's a very simple dish, with a flavour that comes only from salt and fish itself; so the fish has to be very fresh!

Kitsune Udon @ THB120, comes with a white thick Japanese noodle and large deep fried tofu, in a clear soup.
If you do not like Udon, you can replace it with soba which is a buckwheat noodle.
For me, I always like to add a bit of chili powder to get a kick of it.

Ton Jiru Nabe @ THB170, is a hot pot pork with miso soup.
It's something new to try because KL always have the hot pork either with chicken or beef.

It's my first time trying the Mito No Kairakuen @ THB380 (160ML).
It is a traditional sochu made from the finest Japanese plums.
And I really enjoy the sour taste!

Overall, the foods are nice and decent at moderate prices.
I would say it is worth going if this restaurant is not far from where you locate, or else I think there probably have many better choices around.
If you come across a good one, please do comment below and I would love to visit on my next trip!
