Shopping @ Bangkok

Have been waited for few months since I booked my flight to Bangkok.
And I would said I had lots of shopping fun in Bangkok for 4 days and 3 nights trip.
Of coz, this is not my first trip to Bangkok, yet this is my first pure shopping trip.
The previous trip was included some sight seeing, food hunting and bla bla bla.

So, this time I am going to blog about the shopping spots in Bangkok, and hope this can give you guys some ideas of the good shopping places that I have been to.

Enjoy~~ ^_^

1st Spot
Gateaway Mall

It is a new shopping mall where it just opened a week ago before I arrived.
And, it was recommened by a Chinese taxi driver :) Thanks so much!
The whole building decoration is with warm-colored design, where it makes you feel like a Japanese home. That's the reason for the locals named it as a typical Japanese home.
The mall has varieties of restaurants (mainly in Japanese food), supermarket, IT shops, health and beauty stores, fashion outlets etc.

I would recommend the fashion outlets at the 4th floor of the mall, where they have more unique and fashionable clothing, shoes and accesories. Me and my sister had some good gains from some of the shops there :)

However, FYI, the stuffs from here are quite costly compare to the other shopping spots.
I bought a pair of simple short dress at about 800 Baht, where I believe you can get a cheaper price in Chatuchak or Platinum mall, unless you are looking for the special designs.

Location: Sukhumvit road 42, Ekkamai, Bangkok
Opening hours: 10.00-22.00

2nd Spot:
Terminal 21

Have been heard of this new shopping spot before I came to Bangkok
Friends recommended us about this place is because the clothing here is more unique yet the prices are just slightly expensive than in Chatuchak or Platinum mall.

I personally love the building structure a lot because it is just like shopping in the airport with a new shopping venue when you hit each floor.
Each floor of this mall has a different theme based on various cities around the world such as San Francisco, London, Tokyo, Hollywood, Paris, Rome etc.
For example, when you enter to the Rome and Paris floor, is is dedicated to the international fashion brands.
And when you are up to the Tokyo level, ladies can enjoy shopping with the smaller brands with appropriate clothes, dresses and evening wears in this level while men can go up another floor to London with their own fashion needs.
My sister who has been to Tokyo told me that the Tokyo level is absotunately look like the real Shibuya in Tokyo.

Address: Terminal 21: Asoke-Sukhumvit Intersection, BTS: Asoke. MRT: Sukhumvit.
Opening hours: 10.00-2200

3rd Spot:
Asiatique Night Market

I was looking for a good night market in Bangkok since I know Suan Lum Night Bazaar has been closed down one or two years ago.
So, I seek from my Bangkok friend's advice on another alternative, and she told me that Asiatique night market has came into the picture after the Suam Lum.
I will definately not to miss out this new shopping place during my trip!

Asiatique night market is located at Chareonkrung Road.
We had difficulties when getting to the market because many taxi drivers were not familiar with it.
Luckly, we met a Chinese taxi driver who gives us the market name in Thai so that we can show the piece to the driver who cannot understand English.

Compare to Suan Lum Night Bazaar, Asiatique gives a more comfortable shopping experiences to the shoppers in terms of size, variety and location. And the prices here are pretty reasonable compare to Gateway and Terminal 21.

Oh Ya! There is a big Naraya outlet as well inside the market. So you don't need to waste your time searching the outlets around the city if Asiatique is one of your destination in Bangkok.

Location: Chareonkrung Soi 74-76
Opening hours: 16:00-24.00

4th Spot:
Chatuchak Weekend Market

This is the famous weekend market in Bangkok and I believe many of you have known about this cool place.
It is one of the world's largest weekend markets which contains 15,000 booths selling goods from every part of Thailand such as antique wood carving, clay handicrafts, local souvenirs, Buddhist amulets, wooden funitures, hand made decorated flowers, plant, ceramic wares, dools, Thai Bejarong, Chinese wares, graden decorated plants, stones, trendy fashions, silk, hill-tribe outfits, fluffy dogs and more miscellaneous, etc.

You can also find many local designers of the clothings, shoes, bags and accesories.
I enjoyed shopping here a lot even though the market is dirty and warm, but it is worth after all because of the special designs and reasonable prices.
So, whenever you plan your Bangkok trip, please do not forget to have one weekend to visit this fabulous market!

Location: Kamphaeng, Phet 2 Road, Chatuchak,Bangkok, Thailand
Opening hours: Saturdays and Sundays, 09:00-18:00

5th Spot:
Union Mall

I found a very cool shopping centre in Bangkok and this mall is mainly for the local shoppers.
It is more into younger crowd, mainly university students, young office workers, and therefore the goods there are very reasonable.
This is my second time been here, and I would say it has been much crowded compare to my last visit. And it has added a designer zone at the highest lvel, where the goods are slightly expensive and special.

There is also an open air-market just outside the air-conditioned mall.
It is definately worth to visit as you can find an interesting range of clothing, bags, shows and fashion accesories with affordable prices.

Location: Lad Prao Intersection, opposite Central Lao Pao
Opening hours: 10.00-22.00

6th Spot:
Platinum Mall

A whole sales place that is famous to the shoppers and I believe many of you have been to here if you are not the first time to Bangkok.
It is like an indoor version of the Chatuchak Weekend Market where it specializes in wholesales fashion clothing and accesories.

This is my 3rd visit here, and I found that the prices here have been increased a lot compare to my previous visits, also the staffs here have became unfriendly.

I personally do not enjoy this shopping spt anymore as the fashion here is quite standard and nothing so special about it. I would prefer to spend my time in Terminal 21 or Gareaway, at least the goods that you got is different with the others :)

Location: 222 (Platinum) Petchaburi RD. Ratchathevee, Bangkok, Thailand
Opening hours: 08.00-20.00

There you go, these are all the goods from the 2 1/2 days shopping!

I have filled up my 30kg luggage with all the new clothing, shoes, bags, accesories and beuty stuffs!
Faster Faster give me a big thumb to me!!! :P

And now, I’m itching to go back to Bangkok again!
You say! WHEN?!

Little pieces of advise:

Please do not forget about the Boost and Karmart beauty stores in Bangkok, they sell reasonable and good beauty products.

You may also visit the Siam Square in the late noon or at evening as when I was there at 11 till 12pm, most of the shops were still close. I would definately catch another chance to shop there next time!
