A Short Staycation and Celebrate Chinese New Year @ Royale Chulan Seremban

Hey! How's everyone weekend?
It’s been a busy week for me, and I’ve come to realize that December and January are always my busiest months of the year.
In December, I usually take at least one week off to relax, but then it’s back to the whirlwind of Christmas celebrations with friends and family. After that, January kicks in, and work always picks up as we prepare for Chinese New Year. On top of that, I’m also celebrating my birthday this month, making it even more busy and eventful. And let’s not forget, Chinese New Year also falls in January, which adds to the excitement (and the stress).
So, between work, family gatherings, celebrations, and personal milestones, December and January always end up being a blur of activity.
Despite the craziness, I decided to take a short break to recharge and escape the hustle and bustle.
Last weekend, I went on a staycation to Seremban, and it was just what I needed.
The peaceful surroundings and a change of scenery were the perfect remedy after all the busy days. It was a refreshing little getaway that gave me the time to relax and reset before diving back into everything.
So today, let me share more about my short getaway in Seremban, especially the hotel I stayed at this time, Royale Chulan Seremban.
It was a fantastic choice for a relaxing stay, with its comfortable amenities, great location, and welcoming atmosphere.
It’s amazing how a short trip can do wonders for your energy and mindset.
Now I feel more ready to tackle the rest of the month, with all its celebrations and responsibilities!

3D2N at Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort @ Hotel Review at Kuantan, Pahang

When I was a young kid in primary school, my dad used to take us on memorable trips to Kuantan during our school breaks.
Those trips were always filled with excitement and adventure, creating cherished memories with my family that have stayed with me over the years.
One of the highlights during those memorable trips was my dad always book a hotel with a swimming pool, as he wanted us to have the opportunity to learn how to swim.
I can still remember feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation when we arrived at the hotel and eagerly headed straight to the pool. #hehe
It was really fun!
Honestly, the swimming lessons with my dad became a precious bonding opportunity for us; not only taught me how to swim but also brought us closer together as my dad often busy with work and couldn't spend much time with us.
Now that I've grown up, I always have a strong desire to fulfill my dad's travel wishes and take him to places he has always wanted to visit.
Lately, my dad has been talking about visiting Kuantan again, and after months of hearing him talk about it, I decided to surprise him with a 3D2N trip to Kuantan during Puasa month.
Knowing that my parents enjoy private beach and a room with a view of the sea, I choose to make our stay at the Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort.

Hippo Weekend Retreat at Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort @ Langkawi Kedah

Hello everyone!
It's mid June, how's you all doing so far?
I had a very good start in June!
I traveled to Perth with my family and spent one week holiday over there.
Perth is such a nice city to relax; it is quiet but has so much to offer to the tourists.
We went to many beautiful places, and I was very glad that my parents enjoyed Perth very much.
I think the most important thing is I got to recharge myself during the holiday; clear my mind and mentally prepare myself for the second half of the year.
Opps! I probably dragged too far from today's topic, I supposingly wanna share my weekend retreat trip in Langkawi with my girl, Wan back in April.
Me and Wan made the travel plan in advance without something popping up in the middle, and so happy that the trip finally happened!

Grand Ion Delemen Hotel @ Genting Highlands

How's everyone Chinese New Year?
I'm not celebrating Chinese New Year in this year because my grandma just passed away a week before the festival.
It was a tough moment for my family, indeed until today I still can't believe she has left whenever I think of her smile.
Dealing with the loss of a family member is always difficult; my dad is very sad and obviously a hard time for him.
Every Chinese New Year, we had a big family dinner at my grandma's house, and then a vegetarian meals that prepared by my grandma on the first day of Chinese New Year.
So many happy and sweet memories keep flashing back.
Me and my siblings wanted to bring our parents to refresh mind and body during the long holiday, so we arranged a 2D1N trip to Genting Highlands on the 3rd day of CNY.
It's been a while since my last visit to Genting, probably the last visit was the Miriam Yeung Let's Begin Live concert in 2015.
Most of the hotels were fully booked during the long holiday, but it's lucky that we were able to hold 3 rooms at Grand Ion Delemun Hotel.
Grand Ion Delemun Hotel gave all of us a very positive feelings based on it's reviews and ratings on the websites, and also the pictures were truly attempting.
Well, after one night staying there, we thought it's not really worth with what we paid for it.

And today, I'm going to share one of the pre-Christmas celebration together with The Butterfly Project and Traveloka.
It's a pleasure to be invited as one of the bloggers to attend this exclusive 2 days 1 night staycation at The Kuala Lumpur Journal (The KL Journal).

New Attraction in Penang @ Penang 3D Trick Art Museum

3D art museums became popular in eveywhere lately.
I first known about 3D art museums was from my first Korea trip.
To be frank,  I enjoyed the museum very much as there were plenty of fun in taking all the comical pictures.
If you asked me if I would want to visit the museum again?
The answer is definitely a YES!
I'm not sure why, but I just think this museum is not only a great fun place for kids but also for the adults.
If you never been to a 3D art museum before, you can now have your first experience at the Penang 3D Trick Art Museum which located at George town, Malaysia.

Since we aren't very familiar with the Penang roads, so we used Waze to get to the exact location.
Everything become very easy with the Waze by just typing the name of the place you wanna go.
There are many shop-lots around that area, so parking can be one problem for the visitors.
Lucky that we went there during weekday, so we easily get a good spot just right opposite the museum.
Well, the museum looks quite small from the outside, indeed it's quite a big museum which consist 2 floors.

The entrance fees are pretty reasonable.
With MyKad promotion, it is RM15.00 (adult) and RM10 (children at 4-12 years old, senior citizens at 60 years old and above).
Without MyKad promotion, it is RM25 (adult) and RM15 (child at 4-12 years old, senior citizen with 60 years old and above).

Let's start the tour with my childhood game, play with chongkak.

Shhhh! We are stealing some mangoes.

Hang on! Don't fall off!

Where are we going next?

A serious fight with Leong Wai at the Penang Hill.

Someone please help Eddy! #lol

What? Teh Tarik man raining tea on an umbrella?

Our hero, Leong Wai!

Be a minute star on the red carpet. #haha

We were lost in the wonderland?!

Hehe! Hehe! Hehe! I am the boss!

Oh no! Dinasour is coming! Run Betty!

Bye! I'm escaping with E.T.

You don't need to go the Zoo Negara to visit the panda, they are here for you at the panda gallery!

Please help! I have no more strength to fight!

We did the Aerial skydiving!

Oh! My favourite cute penguins!

Oh gosh Betty! A big eagle is coming!

I can do sky boarding! #wow

Becareful everyone! The bridge is broken!

Let me be the hero!

Oh well! Michael Jordan, I am the winner for this game!

It's my magic show!

Oh no! The Ring is right here! #run

Please get me out from there!

Magic man, please be kind to me!

I am in the deep blue diving!

Taking pictures inside the museum is very easy.
You just need to stand at the center of photographer for a good shot, or else you can ask the staffs to help you out!
They all are very friendly and helpful; not only helping you with the pictures, but also giving you guidance on posing.

On the other hand, each illusions also have the explanation in English, Chinese and Malay.
It's good to read the brief explanation to get a perfect posing.

It was truly a fun trip together with Betty, Eddy and Leong Wai.
I bet everyone had a lot of fun together, though this is our first trip together. #haha
The trip inside the museum was so relaxing and we really had a lot of fun and laugh with all the crazy pictures taken.
The only drawback about the tour is the air conditioning was broken during our visit, so it was very warm and stuffy. #disappointed
I think 3D Trick Art Museum is good to come with a group of friends or you can also come to have family fun together with the kids.

I hope this post gives you some idea about the Penang 3D Trick Art Museum.
As most of the times, Penang is more like a place for tourists to discover good food, but not so many attractions to visit.
So, if you have extra time in your next Penang trip, you may consider to slot this itinerary into your trip.

Eat with me @ Kuching Sarawak / Part 3

Here's the final post of my "Eat with me @ Kuching Sarawak".
If you are interested to read my part 1 and part 2, you can click here (part 1) and here (part 2) to get you there!
This is a super long overdue post; I know! I know you guys have been waiting since Sept. #sorryguys
Anyway, I still hope you will enjoy the last part with the most exciting food recommendations in Kuching!

There are so many old-school coffee shops in Kuching selling the similar food.
But to get the best one so far after my few trips there, I think Choon Hui cafe has the most variety nice food for your appetite!
Choon Hui located at Jalan Ban Hock; a place with limited parking spaces and it is usually crowded especially during the breakfast hours.

Sarawak Laksa is the most famous food in Kuching.
It has a unique taste of sambal belacan, with it's special herbs and spices.
A bowl like this always comes with mee hoon, 2 pieces of prawns, shredded chicken, beansprouts, thin strips of omelette, and coriander.
I have had the same laksa at different cafes in Kuching, yet me and my local friends agreed that Choon Hui Cafe has the best one.
It costs just RM4-RM5 for a bowl like this!
Do not forget to squeeze the lime that they prepare for you with their own-made chili paste!

Kolo Mee is another must eat in Kuching.
But if you want to have the best one in Kuching, then you should stay with me till the last food destination, because that's the place that I like the most. #hehe
Anyway, a bowl like this at Choon Hui Cafe costs just RM3.80. #worthdie

Other than all the main courses, you can also have their famous snacks such as Roti Kiap @ RM1.80.
It is a crispy toasted white bread and spreaded with butter and kaya, more like our Roti Bakar in KL.
You can also dip the bread with an extra half-boiled egg which is freshly made upon your order

Popiah @ RM3.00 comes with the filling of shredded bangkuang, carrots and a bit of minced meat.
It's a very well done Popiah because of it's soft-soft skin.

Do not miss out the cold Teh-C-Peng, that available at most places in Kuching.
The taste is so much richer in flavour, and you sure will taste the different compare to the one you have in KL!

I blogged about one of the must go destination in Kuching, Sarawak Cultural Village here.
Lim Hock Ann Seafood restaurant is the place where we had our lunch after the sight-seeing.
It is about 40 minutes drive from Kuching city, and about 10 minutes drive from the cultural village.

It is an open air restaurant, which served Chinese-style halal seafood here.
There are so many good food from the menu, so we just let the locals to make the decision for us. #hehe

Oyster Omelette/Pancake, which again tasted so much different than in KL.
The omelette was more like eating crackers as the skin is made too crispy.
When I did the research about this seafood restaurant, everyone would order it and gave a thumbs up for it!

Oh! Bilin is my most favourite, also the famous wild vegetable that you must have in Kuching.
It is only available in Kuching as it cannot be kept too long whereby it has to buy and cook on the same day.
They usually cook with sambal balacan, wine or just fried with garlic.

Deep Fried Squid, is the fastest dish that ran out once it served on our table. #lol
It is tender, chewy, crispy till everyone couldn't resist it!

This is the Stir Fried Mani Cai With Egg; some people may call it as sweet potato leaves.
I personally like this cooking style as it made the mani cai more tasty and refreshing!

Words can't describe how much I love this Butter Prawn, it's a real bomb at this restaurant!
The little bits in the prawns are definitely stimulate your appetite!
I almost aet the whole bowl of rice just with these little bits! #fatdiedie

Kueh Chap is one of the famous delicacy in Kuching.
I used to not like Kueh Chap when I first visited Kuching, probably I didn't get a good one that time.
I am glad that I found the Bintawa Kueh Chap, which near to Tabuan Jaya during my trip this time.

If this is your first time knowing about Kuey Chap, don't mess it up with Bak Kut Teh.
It is totally different 2 dishes although they both are cooked in dark soup.
Kuey Chap is a kind of Teochew dish which the "noodle" looks something similar like Kueh Tiaw, but in a bigger and flatter piece.
Their soup is the one that I love the most, because it has a kind of herb taste.

It serves with mixture of pork meats, bean curds, hard-boiled eggs, pork bellies, and chitterlings.
We skipped the pig offal as my parents they don't really appreciate it.

Their Pig Trotter in Vinegar and Ginger Stew @ RM8 is worth for a try, and the sour taste is kinda good to mix with the simple Kueh Chap.

Last but not least, here's the best Kolo Mee in Kuching, Sin Lian Shin from my list
My local friends usually do not prefer to come here, because it always have to wait more than 30 minutes.
During my visit on Sunday, I think we waited for about 45 minutes till 1 hour!

Kuching Kolo Mee not only looks different with the KL one, but also the taste is totally different.
Kolo Mee in KL are all made with soy sauce, whereby Kuching Kolo Mee is either made in red sauce or just plain in colour.
Ever since I had my first kolo mee, I will never stop myself eating it every time I come for a visit.
The noodle always comes with sliced roasted pork and minced pork on it.
There are 2 types of kolo mee; this is the red one with roasted pork sauce, also my all-time favourite.

You can also request the plain one, which is less salty and sweet than the red one.

If you do not like the curly noodle, you may try their Mee Pok.
It is slightly thicker in width but cooked with the same tasty and delicious as the thin curly noodles.

Do not forget to add the Kiaw (dumplings soup) to your order.
I could have eaten the whole bowl by myself.
It is like the dumplings soup we have in KL, but this dumpling skin are as thin as a piece of paper and the filling is certainly delicious!

That's all I have in my disc about the food in Kuching.
I hope this post is helpful for you to get the right and delicious food during your trip in Kuching.
Once again! Thanks to my besties, Kay and Stella for all their times and effort to bring us to good food.
