This year, I feel the year passed by very quickly; perhaps I was so busy that I forgot how time flew.

Despite nothing super exciting happening, I feel grateful with everything that came my way.

I noticed I had more time for myself this year, learning to live the life I wanted, doing things I really enjoy, I also spent a lot of time with my parents, which was nice.

Besides that, I also worked hard and had fun when I could, trying to find a good balance, which made me feel happy and satisfied throughout the year.

这年过得很充实很快乐.
不管是和自己还是家人朋友们, 回顾album里的照片, 这2023真的充满了很多珍贵的回忆,
我要谢谢自己, 谢谢自己努力的活成自己想要的样子.
也因为这些年, 深深体会到生命的脆弱, 所以我很努力的过好每一天的生活, 珍惜当下的每一刻.

It's a summary of my experiences from the year, capturing the good moments and simple joys.

Looking back, it was a special year!

I'm back to continue my travel blog about my trip to Kaohsiung.

I last updated my travel post in Sept, thanks for staying with me. :)

So, some of you have asked why I choose Kaohsiung for this trip.

Well, one of the main reasons for my choice was to experience life in a smaller city and find relaxation, as big cities tend to feel somewhat stressful to me.

Additionally, I also found out that Kaohsiung is conveniently close to Tainan, just less than one-hour ride on a high-speed train, this allowed me to explore two places in one trip, which sounded like a great idea. #hehe

Besides, Kaohsiung is also Taiwan's second largest city, boasts a rich history as a port city, influenced by various foreign cultures such as the Dutch, Japanese and Chinese, which have a lasting impact on its culture and development over the years.

I've never been to Japan before. #surprise?!
But I've heard many great things about the country from people around me who had visited multiple times.
They've shared their experiences with me, highlighting Japan is a fantastic place to explore.
First and foremost, Japan stands out for its extraordinary commitment to cleanliness and the genuine friendliness of its people.

Second, it's renowned for its remarkable spirit of innovation and creativity.

And thirdly, there are many incredible drug stores where you can shop till you drop.

I really hope to experience Japan for myself one day, perhaps as soon as next year. :)

In the meantime, while waiting for the right time to visit Japan, it's great to know that we can now purchase Japanese products from authentic Japanese drug store right here in Malaysia!

Hey guys! How's everyone doing?

We're almost at the end of September, and it's hard to believe that we only have 3 months left before we say goodbye to 2023.

Looking back on this year, I feel really lucky because I got to travel to few different countries and see the world with my own eyes.

If you follow me on Instagram @mizhippo, you probably noticed that I just came back from Taiwan.

This time, I decided to explore Kaohsiung and Tainan instead of Taipei, as I've been to Taipei before, and I wanted to see a different side of Taiwan.

I remember my first trip to Taiwan was approximately 13 years ago when I went there to attend some short courses, and then my most recent visit was 5 years ago when I traveled my university friends.

Taiwan is convenient for me to explore on my own because we speak the same language, the transportation system also makes it easy to get around, and I've always loved of Taiwanese cuisine, which is another plus for me. :)

Also, the people in Taiwan are indeed very friendly and helpful; I remember one instance when we were storing our luggage at the Kaohsiung MRT station, and a Taiwanese girl approached us and asked if there was anything she could do to help.

Honestly, it was really such a friendly and heartwarming gesture for us!

Speaking of the weather during our visit to Kaohsiung, we were lucky to have arrived a few days after the typhoon season in Taiwan had passed.

However, the weather during this trip was rather unpredictable, where we experienced 3 days of continuous rain and 2 extremely hot and sunny days, indeed it wasn't the most ideal weather for traveling. 

This time, I had the pleasure of traveling with my good friend, Venny, and it marked our very first adventure together during the 6-days 5-nights trip to Kaohsiung and Tainan.

Well, despite the unpredictable weather, we had a blast; enjoying each other's company, sharing hearty laughs, capturing numerous photos and videos to remember our adventures, and savoring the mouthwatering local food.

Since I got back from Chiang Mai in May, life has been super busy, filled with a flurry of activities, a multitude of tasks to do, and a busy schedule to meet, which explained why I haven't had the chance to write on my blog.

Anyway, even though this post is coming a bit late, I really wanted to write down all the special moments during the 4D3N adventure in Chiang Mai.

It's a trip that holds a special place in my heart, as I got to spend precious moments with my uni mates. 

I'm hoping that when we're all 60 years old, we can look back at this post and remember the amazing time we had together in 2023.

This trip was really excited because we all flew from different places; some of us from KL, some from Kuching, others from Hong Kong and Singapore. 

Our last big meetup was in 2018 when we went to Taipei, and because of the pandemic, we couldn't see each other for almost 5 years. 

Well, thinking back to 2018, when we last met in Taipei, we never thought it would be so long before we meet each other again.

Big thanks to our group leader, Stella Ling, and group assistant Yee Hong, for putting this whole trip together; from the beginning to the end, they've taken care of everything.

So, without further ado, let's get ready for this long post in Chiang Mai as I'll be covering all the interesting places, activities, restaurants and cafes we visited. :)

When I was a young kid in primary school, my dad used to take us on memorable trips to Kuantan during our school breaks.

Those trips were always filled with excitement and adventure, creating cherished memories with my family that have stayed with me over the years.

One of the highlights during those memorable trips was my dad always book a hotel with a swimming pool, as he wanted us to have the opportunity to learn how to swim.

I can still remember feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation when we arrived at the hotel and eagerly headed straight to the pool. #hehe

It was really fun!

Honestly, the swimming lessons with my dad became a precious bonding opportunity for us; not only taught me how to swim but also brought us closer together as my dad often busy with work and couldn't spend much time with us.

Time seems to be flying by, and we're almost halfway through the year.

How has the second half of 2023 been treating you so far?

As for me, I can't complain; work has been keeping me busy, but I am grateful that I've still managed to take out some time for travel.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I returned from an amazing trip to Chiang Mai.

It was such a joy to reunite with my university friends after 3 years of lock down, and we all have a wonderful gathering together.

I can't wait to share all the exciting details of my Chiang Mai adventure with you in the upcoming posts.

But before we go into that, let's wrap up the second part of my Seoul trip in May.

I am back from Seoul again!

Yes! You heard it right! I visited Seoul once again last month, and I couldn't be happier that I was able to return to Seoul so soon after my previous visit in Dec 2022.

This time around, I'm traveling with my two nieces, making the journey all the more special.

Believe it or not, the three of us have been discussing the idea of visiting Korea together for years.

It all started when we fell in love with the K-pop group Bigbang.

We were so passionate about our shared dream that we even created a WhatsApp group titled "Korea" just for the three of us. #lol

The fact that we finally turned our dream into reality this year feels surreal.

During the trip, we not only explore the beautiful city of Seoul, we also had the incredible opportunity to attend a concert while we were there.

The entire experience is beyond anything we could have imagined!

Although we didn't have a detailed itinerary planned for this trip, we decided to go with the flow, let the city to surprise us at every turn.

In doing so, we discovered hidden gems, had unexpected and unforgettable encounters, and created memories that will remain cherished in our hears forever.

Sometimes, it's the unplanned moments that become the most treasured and leave a lasting impact on our travel experiences. :)

There are so much memories to share and keep in this blog, so I decided to make it into 2 parts which allow me to include more photos and more information for you guys.

Here's another updates about my Seoul trip back in December.

It has been about a month since my last post about the food I tried in Seoul, and I am sorry for not updating you all sooner about my travel experiences.

Can't believe we are celebrating Chinese New Year in less than a month now.

We just finished celebrating the holiday season with Christmas and now we are excited to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

In case you not sure about the culture of Chinese New Year, we have one important tradition for the Spring Festival, which is the reunion dinner 年夜饭 that usually takes place on New Year's Eve.

It is a time for families, no matter how far the distance to travel, to come together and celebrate the festival by enjoying a meal together.
