My Seoul Korea Diary Part 2: Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, Hangang River, Korean Indie Band Show, Cafe Hopping at Ikseondong & Hannamdong

Hello everyone!
Can you believe it's already June?
Time seems to be flying by, and we're almost halfway through the year.
How has the second half of 2023 been treating you so far?
As for me, I can't complain; work has been keeping me busy, but I am grateful that I've still managed to take out some time for travel.
Just a couple of weeks ago, I returned from an amazing trip to Chiang Mai.
It was such a joy to reunite with my university friends after 3 years of lock down, and we all have a wonderful gathering together.
I can't wait to share all the exciting details of my Chiang Mai adventure with you in the upcoming posts.
But before we go into that, let's wrap up the second part of my Seoul trip in May.
In case you missed it, my previous blog featured part 1, where I shared my experiences exploring pop-up stores,  visiting cafes, indulging in delicious street food, and attending the incredible Seoul Festa concert.
It was quite a lengthy post, and I really appreciate to those who read it through to the end.
If you haven't had the chance to check it out yet, you can find it HERE.
So, without further ado, let's jump into the next chapter of my Seoul journey right away!

My Seoul Korea Diary Part 1: Seoul Festa 2023, Apgujeong-dong, Coex Atrium, Seoul Forest, NCT Comaz, Cafe Hopping

Hello everyone!
I am back from Seoul again!
Yes! You heard it right! I visited Seoul once again last month, and I couldn't be happier that I was able to return to Seoul so soon after my previous visit in Dec 2022.
This time around, I'm traveling with my two nieces, making the journey all the more special.
Believe it or not, the three of us have been discussing the idea of visiting Korea together for years.
It all started when we fell in love with the K-pop group Bigbang.
We were so passionate about our shared dream that we even created a WhatsApp group titled "Korea" just for the three of us. #lol
The fact that we finally turned our dream into reality this year feels surreal.
During the trip, we not only explore the beautiful city of Seoul, we also had the incredible opportunity to attend a concert while we were there.
The entire experience is beyond anything we could have imagined!
Although we didn't have a detailed itinerary planned for this trip, we decided to go with the flow, let the city to surprise us at every turn.
In doing so, we discovered hidden gems, had unexpected and unforgettable encounters, and created memories that will remain cherished in our hears forever.
Sometimes, it's the unplanned moments that become the most treasured and leave a lasting impact on our travel experiences. :)
There are so much memories to share and keep in this blog, so I decided to make it into 2 parts which allow me to include more photos and more information for you guys.
Without further ado, let's get ready now to be transported back to the places we visited, the delicious food we savored and the laughter that we shared through the air! :)

Eunpyeong-gu @ Eunpyeong Hanok Village, 1인1상 Cafe, Yeonseo Market

Greetings, everyone!
Here's another updates about my Seoul trip back in December.
It has been about a month since my last post about the food I tried in Seoul, and I am sorry for not updating you all sooner about my travel experiences.
Work has been keeping me busy, and I haven't had the chance to sit down, edit pictures and write the next post for my Seoul trip; nonetheless, I appreciate your patience and support.
I have noticed that many people are traveling to Seoul in April, which seems to be a popular travel month as we have some long weekends going on in Malaysia.
Therefore, in this post, I decided to share about my trip to Eunpyeong-gu with all of you.
I remember the day we visited Eunpyeong-gu, a small district in Seoul, it was extremely cold and the frigid temperatures made it challenging to spend too much time outdoors.
To be honest, the cold weather during winter season in Korea was too much for me to handle.
Yet, if you are interested in winter sports or activities, such as skiing, then December would be an ideal time for you to experience it.
You can read more about my ski experience at HERE. :)
Well, even though it was freezing cold during our visit to Eunpyeong-gu, I had a fantastic and memorable trip.
The picturesque scenery was so overwhelming that I couldn't resist taking numerous pictures, and in addition to that, there is also a charming cafe and a bustling local food market to visit, which I will share more details in this post, so keep reading to find out more. :)

Elysian Gangchon Ski Resort Ski Tour @ Trazy.com, Korea's #1 Travel Shop

Welcome back to my Seoul post! :)
Today, I want to share one of the highlights of my trip so far - skiing!
To be honest, I never really planned to travel to Korea during the winter because I knew it could be really tough with freezing temperatures that sometimes drop below -10 degrees Celsius.
I've been there during the winter back in 2013 and it was quite a shock for me.
But since Kay and Stella only had a long break in December, and it had been a long time since we had  traveled to a country where it snowed, so we decided to plan our trip to Seoul during winter.
We hope to be able to relive some of the memories from our time in Michigan, and experience the joy in the snow again.
So, I looked for fun winter activities that we could do at Trazy.com, and skiing was at the top of our list.
Kay had never been skiing before...it was Stella's first time at a ski resort in Korea...and I had only had a short ski experience in Korea back in 2013, so we were all excited to hit the slopes in Korea and experience the unique culture and beauty of the country.
We are pleasantly surprised that it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip, and it was a trip we'll always remember. :)
Big thanks to Trazy, Korea's #1 Travel Shop for taking care of all the arrangements, we had an amazing time on our ski trip, and they really made it a memorable experience for us!
If you're planning your first ski trip to Korea, I hope this post has given you some useful information, and hope that my experience can be helpful for anyone planning a similar trip in the future.
And, if you want to see some videos of our skiing experience, you can check out my Instagram stories, find me at @mizhippo, I've highlighted them into "Seoul Dec 22" for some funny clips. :)

For 3 years on non-stop talking on revisit to Korea, my dream finally came true when the border was reopen.

Where to Stay in Busan @ Ibis Ambassador Busan City Centre

Hey guys!
Welcome back to my travelog!
I've blogged about "Top 10 Things To Do In Busan For 5D4N" on my previous travelog, if you are interested to know more about Busan, you can click the link right HERE.
The post basically gives an overall view about Busan city and would be able to give you some travel tips when you traveling in Busan.
As for today, I'm going to share the hotel I stayed during my 5D4N in Busan.
I know there are a lot of hotel and Airbnb choices out there, so sometimes it can be really difficult to look for a suitable one.
So, if you are planning to go for Busan trip, I would recommend you to consider Ibis Ambassador Busan City Centre.
I must say that the hotel has far exceeded my expectations, and the stay was literally worth every penny.
It is clean, modern, and convenient.
I booked this hotel through the travel package from AirAsiaGo; I paid RM2000 just 2 weeks before my trip for the entire package with return airfare and 4 night stays hotel.
Without further ado, let's have a room tour with me now!

Top 10 Things To Do In Busan For 5D4N @ Busan, South Korea

It took me a while to think of how to start my travel blog in Busan.
It's already been six months since I traveled to Busan, and during the last few months, I received a lot of messages from you guys asking me about the attraction places to go, what are the important sights in the city, and also what are the must eats in Busan.
I remember the last time I went to Busan was about 3 years ago.
It was a very nice trip with my girl friends; though it was just a 2D1N stay in Busan with a basic overview of the city, but the city left me with a very positive impression and since then I always wanted to go back again.
This time, I brought my parents, especially my dad who never been to South Korea before.
I'm hoping to give my dad a good memory and impression about South Korea, so I decided to bring him to Busan instead of Seoul.
I think Busan is relatively easy to get around, people are friendly, and the city is not as crowded as Seoul yet pretty good for a relaxing holiday.
We traveled 5D4N in Busan, and I decided to put down a list of things to do and places to go in Busan for you guys, hopefully the post will be helpful for you if you're planning to go there.
Let's cut all the craps, and get it started!

The Most famous K-Drama Filming Location in Seoul @ Ihwa-dong Mural Village

I watched quite a few K-dramas in last two month.
Completed the Memory of Alhambra, and Encounter/Boyfriend in January, and then the Priest, The Beauty Inside, and The Last Empress in February.
I love the story line of The Beauty Inside and I think this is one of the best K-drama in 2018; I also quite like the Memory of Alhambra because each plots are interesting yet the ending was so killing; I watched the Encounter/Boyfriend because of Song Hye-kyo but then I fall into Park Bo-gum in this drama; well, I think Priest is not really my type of drama.
And, I just finished The Last Empress during last weekend, and I have to say that this is really a best one if you do not like romance dramas.
The storyline really impressed me because each episodes will leave a big question about what's going to happen next, and that's why I had a crazy K-drama marathon during the weekend.
Oppsss, I think I've dragged too far from my today's topic, let't come back!
So, during my last trip in Seoul, I visited one of the famous K-drama filming place with my Korean girl friend.
Gail asked me if I have any places that wanted to go, and the first one that came into my mind is the Ilwa-dong Mural Village.
I wanted to go to this place for a very long time, because I've seen this place appeared in many K-dramas before, such as the Rooftop Prince, Failing For Innocence, The Doctors, Goblin, Strong Woman Do Bong-soon, Are You a Human Too?
Also, if you watched the latest Encounter/Boyfriend starring by Song Hye-Kyu and Park Bo-gum, this is also the shooting place at the ending of the last episode.
Without further ado, let me show you how beautiful the Ilwa-dong Mural Village is!

Where to Cafe-Hopping in Seoul? @ South Korea

When I travel, or wherever I travel, other than visiting the attraction places, have the local cuisines and foods, I always like to seek out a cafe.
During my recent trip in South Korea, I've visited some unique cafes in Seoul.
I received some of your messages asking me about cafe-hopping places in Korea, so I guess here's the post for you all!
There are many reasons why I like to cafe-hop while on a holiday, and one of the main reasons is because I like to have a space to relax, gather thoughts and also to drink their coffees.
I'm not a coffee expert, but in fact I need at least one cup a day.
I usually like my coffee with a strong coffee taste so that I can taste an excellent coffee flavour.
Well after all, I guess I just want to find an excuse to chill. #lol

K-Drama "Mr. Sunshine" @ Nonsan Sunshine Land

Hey guys!
Welcome back to my travel blog and today I'm going to bring you around the Nonsan province.
When I looked into the itinerary prior to the departure date, I was very excited about the upcoming visit in Nonsan, because this is the main filming location of the K-drama "Mr. Sunshine" by Lee Byung-hun and Kim Tae-ri.
My Korean girl friend told me that this is one of the must-watch dramas in last year.
Well, being a fan of K-dramas, I've for sure already watched it before the trip; so when I knew that we are visiting the filming location of Mr. Sunshine, it really boost my happiness.
Seriously, I really can't wait for that! :)
NONSAN, also named as "Nolmoi", meaning dusk(y) or yellow mountain, is a city in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea.
The origin of Nonsan's geographical name is from the small garden "nonmoi", which raise in the middle of farming fields, where rice paddies and mountain are said to reflect geographical features.
It's a quiet vast valley that surrounded by mountains and fields, so my first impression towards Nonsan country is the place is so friendly and peaceful.
Anyway, we only spent one afternoon in Nonsan province by visiting one of the main attractions at Nonsan Sunshine Land.

Suncheonman Bay Wetland Reserved | Suncheon Open Film Location | Naganeupseong Folk Village @ Suncheon, South Korea

I'm very excited to blog about Suncheon.
Suncheon is my most favourite place of this trip and I'm truly convince this is one of the most beautiful places in South Korea.
Many of you have been asking me about the places in Suncheon after seeing my pictures on my social medias, so yeap, here's the complete post for you all!
SUNCHEON, one of the most well preserved cities in both aspects of nature and culture.
It is a city located in South Jeolla Province, which is in the southeastern corner of Jeollanam-do, about an hour from south-east of Gwangju.
When traveling to South Korea, many travelers like to visit Seoul, Jeju Island, Busan, but in fact, Suncheon is definitely worth a visit too if you visit Korea.
Well, it's hard to describe in words how beautiful the place is, I think you just have to go, see it and feel it yourself.
It just offers a different kind of beauty in Korea, nothing like the busy street in Seoul, Suncheon is natural, quiet and calming.
Anyway, this post is going to be a photo-log, I've no idea how many photos have been taken in Suncheon; nonetheless, I hope you will bear with me and enjoy them. :) #promise

Hanhwa Aqua Planet | AR Trick Eye Museum | Maritime Cable Car @ Yeosu, South Korea

Hello there! It's me again!
Today, I'm back here to blog about the things to do in the city of Yeosu.
I've blogged about Songdo in my latest travel blog, if you missed it out, feel free to check out the post right HERE yea.
YEOSU, situated at the southern end of the Korean peninsula, surrounded by many islets and coastal beauties that draw in visitors all year round.
The region offers both natural and man-made attractions, which has been dubbed one of the most beautiful ports in the nation, where multitudes of tourists and residents go for enjoyable holidays and short weekend trips.
As it is surrounded by archipelago of the vast Namhae Sea which comprised of over 300 islands (most of which are uninhabited), Yeosu allows you to peacefully escape from the busyness of city life by connecting you with the surrounding nature.

And in today's blog post, I 'm going to take you to Songdo.
SONGDO, embodies the future of Incheon, which built on reclaimed land.
The province offers a number of attractions, from Central Park, to natural oasis in the city.
Since it is close to the sea, the man-made waterway is filled with sea water, and water taxis travel through the park.
Songdo not only offers a lawn and a promenade along a filed of reeds, it also has many futuristic-looking buildings, creating a harmonious combination of technology and the natural environment.

Where to Stay in Myeongdong, Seoul Korea @ Nine Tree Premier Hotel Myeongdong 2

Annyeong! Annyeong!
It's me again!
Today, I'm going to blog about the hotel that I stayed during my recent Seoul trip.
I received messages from many of you asking me where to stay in Seoul is the best; well actually it's very difficult to decide where to stay in Seoul since there are so many choices outthere, like Gangnam, Hongdae, Myeongdong, Dongdaemun, Itaewon etc.
The different neighborhoods cater to different groups of travelers, so it's really depends on your priorities and interests in order to pick the most convenient location for yourself.
But, if shopping and food are your main purposes for coming to Seoul for your holiday, then I will recommend you to stay in Myeongdong.
Myeongdong is a one-stop shopping destination for all your needs as this area are packed with many international fashion brands, department stores like Lotte, local fashion boutiques, and also cosmetic shops.
There are a lot of eateries in Myeongdong too, from Korean, Western to Japanese dining restaurants, and then fast food chains, and also a lot of street food carts along the area.
I'm glad that I found this hotel called Nine Tree Premier Hotel Myeongdong 2 in Myeongdong, which I will be sharing with you all in this post!

Top 6 Must Visit K-Wave Destinations In South Korea

Hello everyone!
How are things going in December?
I hope all are well! :)
I've been traveling a lot since mid-November till end-December; traveling from Busan, to Seoul and then to China.
As you may already know from my Instagram, I came back from Seoul in 3 weeks ago.
It's very lucky that I got to travel to Korea twice in this year.
A very special big shoutout to Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) for sending me to Seoul this time.
Yea, if you are with me all this while, you probably know why I'm in love with Korea so much; I love Kimchi and Soju, Korean beauty products are part of my daily routine, I like Korean dramas and I can watch every day and night, I like K-pop songs and I'm learning K-pop choreography now.
I'm really in love with everything about Korea. :p
I felt overwhelmed when I received email from KTO about the collaboration for this time.
Thanks for trusting me as I always have a strong passion sharing my traveling stories and hoping my write up would provide a wider platform for my readers.
So, in this post, I will be sharing an overview of the trip, and will be diving deep into the places by separating the posts according to different places that I've been to this time.
I will try to include as much as information as I could, include the directions since I've received so many messages from you all on my IG and FB. :)
Shall we begin the journey now?!

Nami Island @ Beautiful Autumn Season

Finally, today is the last post for my Korea trip during the Autumn season.
You are always welcome to read back my previous Korea posts by clicking on the label "Korea".
Since this is my last post for the trip, I am gonna spam many pictures out from my trip, so just bear with me okay?! #promise?
We decided to spent our last day at the Nami Island instead of doing all the shopping hauls. #lol
This is my second time visit here, and I have mentioned few times before that I wanna come back for different seasons.
I have done with the winter and autumn seasons, hope I can come here again during their spring and summer seasons soon.
Since my first visit was organized by the tour agent, hence for this time, I am gonna plan my own itinerary to come here. #excitedman

So, shall we begin the journey now?!

Nami Island is far from the city where we need about 1 hour plus, nearly 2 hours to arrive.
So, it is impossible to go there by taxi because the taxi fair is gonna be way too expensive.
This is the longest subway transaction we had for the whole trip. #haha
The subway took us about 50 minutes - 1 hour to arrive Gapyeong station, which is the main station you must arrive before heading to the Nami Island.

From the Gapyeong station , you can choose to take the shuttle or taxi to the final destination.
We choose to take a taxi which cost us about 4000 - 5000 won (RM14 - RM17) as the fare for the shuttle is almost the same.
The drive from the Gapyeong station to the jetty is just 5 minutes.

We got our entrance ticket after the long queue; there were so many visitors on that day no matter they are Koreans or foreigners.
The admission fees for foreigner is 8000 won which is about RM28 per person.
The opening hours is from 730 am till 930 pm, and I strongly suggest you to come here early; otherwise when the sky is getting dark, you likely won't be happy with your pictures.

Everybody, get on to the ferry boat!
You will never reach the island without taking the ferry.
The journey is about 20 - 25 minutes.
The space inside the ferry is always packed, at least it was on my both visits. #lol

If you want to get to the front deck for a good view, then you must get yourself queue early to get the front row. #idontmind

N A M I  I S L A N D !

It's lucky that we got a nice weather on that day.
It has a bit of sunshine but it was not very warm, pretty chilly for a day time.
It's an ideal weather for outing!

It's totally a different experience travelling here by myself and with tour agent.
It was kinda rush when I first came here because the tour guide kept rushing us for the next destination. #ihateit
And for this time, I can truly enjoy my time, walk around and admire the beautiful scenery of the island.

I have extra time to play hide and seek with the girls. #actlikekiddo

And have more time to take wonderful pictures.

There are more things to do at Nami Island, such as renting a bicycle if you have enough time to spend during your trip.
But, I would recommend you to have a picnic here.
Pack some simple food and drinks from the convenient store, and enjoy your lunch with the beautiful autumn coloured trees.
I am sure you will bring back great memories from your holiday when you return home.

The place is serene and beautiful on it's own way.
B E A U T I F U L !

It's lucky to come here during the autumn season so that you got to see the beautiful leaves before they fall off.

The view during autumn and winter is completely different.
At my first visit, all trees dropped their leaves and they were all bold during the cold weather.
And at my second visit, I had the chance to see the colourful leaves; from green turning red/orange, and then slowly changing to yellow/brown.
It is totally a different scenery and I have to say that autumn season is more breath taking to take great pictures.
I guess my pictures have already described the beauty of Nami Island.
If you are curious how the place looks like during the winter season, you can click the link at here.

K-drama, Winter Sonata is one great reason to visit the Nami Island because it's the first Korean drama was being filmed at here.

It was lunch time, and we had our lunch at one of the Korean restaurant.
We insisted to have traditional Korean cuisine since that was our last day in Korea, gonna eat "kaokao". #haha
We had Samgyetang, Jeon (Korean pancake), and Bibimbap for sharing.
Of course, both Samgyetang and Bibimbap still the best from the Bukchon Village.

It was our first girl trip, and I am sure more to come~~~ #hehe

Well, it's time to beat farewell and head back to Seoul.
Please take note that the return ferry boat usually has a long queue which need to wait for at least 15 minutes.
If you have a tight schedule, you probably can plan your itinerary according to it.
Overall, I have to say that we were enjoying ourselves very much at the Nami Island, and I felt glad that we included it in our itinerary although I have been here before.
It's a great destination for you to visit if you want to experience the more natural side of Korea.
I think my pictures tell how romantic and beautiful during the autumn days, and I would love to return to see how the island is like in Spring!

So, that's it for my Korea post!
I was feeling sad on the last day because we were flying off to Malaysia the next day.
I wanted to stay here longer, and seriously I am not ready to leave this beautiful country. #sobsobsob
Truly, it was a good trip and I felt so thankful that I can have the opportunity to travel to Seoul again.
Honestly, there are still so much more to explore in Korea, and I really hope to go back soon!
잘가세요 한국!

What to eat @ Bukchon Hanok Village

If you asked me what I love the most for the Korean cuisine.
My answer will always be their Samgyetang.
I love Samgyetang because I like to drink soup very much, as simple as that! #hehe
I think I have been well spoiled by my mum; my mum always make a big pot of soup for everyday dinner at my home. #blessing
I asked my Korean friend where to have good Samgyetang in Seoul, and she suggested us to find at the Bukchon Hanok Village.
So, our mission on the day 7 was to look for an authentic Samgyetang at the village!

It's my second time visited this unique place in Seoul.
I really don't mind to visit again and again because the view is definitely worthwhile.
Moreover, now I found an authentic restaurant which has the best Samgyetang!
This would be my good reason to revisit here again, again, again, in future! #haha

We grabbed a taxi from our apartment and headed to the village directly.
The driver stopped us at the other entrance of the place; it wasn't the same main entrance like the last time I visited, so it took us sometimes to walk around.
We were really hungry when we arrived there as we woke up late in the morning and skipped our breakfast.

Inadvertently, we found this restaurant with a picture of Samgyetang as well as a mandarin sign of Bukchon Samgyetang; so we thought why not?!
The restaurant is located at the second floor.

When we get up to the restaurant, the place was empty, no customers at all.
I thought maybe we found a wrong place, but when I looked at my watch, it was just 11 in the morning.
I guess it must be too early for having lunch at this hour. #lol

The boss is very friendly although he can't speak English at all.
He gave us a warm welcome and gorgeous smile while greeting us.
After we ordered our food, the banchan served right away.

The kimchi is so drooling!
Well, I am a kimchi lover; my Korean friend said that I'm more like a Korean than her because I can eat more kimchi than her! #haha

That's the main course we had for our lunch, Samgyetang.
Samgyetang means ginseng; it's a chicken soup consists of a whole small chicken, stuffed with garlic, rice, scallion, spices, jujube and Korean ginseng.
One bowl is for one person, so you have to commit to eat a whole chicken all by yourself.
Trust me, I can finish one bowl all by myself, so why not you?! #hehe

We also tried their Bibimbap since we not yet have one during our trip.
Bibimbap is a signature Korean dish which served as a bowl of warm white rice and topped with seasoned vegetables, gochujang (red sauce), soy sauce, and soybean paste.
Many people like it but not so much for me because I do not like to have anything with raw egg.

We thought we should only order one bowl of Samgyetang because we want to try the other dishes.
But, the taste was too good that we couldn't resist to order another bowl!

Nicezzzzz lunch! #thumbsup

Before we left the restaurant, there were more people started coming in.
Guess what? All of them are locals, and we were the only foreigners!
So proud of our self that we got the right local authentic restaurant on that day!

It was winter when I first came here in 2014.
If you are interested to look how this village look like during the winter season, you can click the link here.
The village looks so different in Fall season with the beautiful leaves!

One good thing about Korea is the government will keep it's tradition against the modern development.
Same as the GamCheon Cultural Village, you will get the chance to see the Korean traditional houses along the road and at different alleys inside the Bukchon Hanok Village.

Climbed up a little bit, you will reach the main village of Bukchon.
At this spot, you can get a nice view which filled with hanok roofs. #niceeee

Bukchon Hanok Village was not built to be a tourist attraction.
This area is a residential neighborhood where people actually stay inside the houses.
So, when you visit the village, it is important to keep quiet while walking. #shhhhhhhh
Pay your respect to them, and it is important to make your trip to Bukchon a quiet trip!

We passed by the Chongang Middle and High School.
It looks beautiful from outside so we asked for permission from the security guide to go in.
Look at the surrounding!! It's like we arrive at a British University. #reallybeautiful

Inside the village, you can find many interesting and fashionable shops selling handcraft things, clothing, drinks and food.
Also, there are few shops nearby the school selling variety of audio-visual Korean pop stars elements.
Look how handsome my favourite Park Yoo Chun is! #lollollol
Ajumma is so friendly that she wanted to take a pic with me. #hahaha
If you are looking for this kind of store in Seoul, you have to walk a bit deeper inside the village so that you will find it.

Bukchon Hanok Village is absolutely worth a visit!
I bet you definitely won't regret for visiting this beautiful place in Seoul!
Alright, that's all for the day 7!
Thanks for reading this post, and stay tuned for my next blog post :)
