Dumpling Kings & Phuture Daging @ Launch Malaysia’s First Plant-Based Dumpling Outlet

Dumplings have become popular across the world.
More and more people are experimenting with new and exciting flavours, combining them together to create entirely unique dumplings that are innovative in both taste and texture.
I love dumplings, I can't deny that I'm also one of the dumpling fans. :)
Dumplings are easy to prepare, I usually prefer pan-fried dumplings, it's always a great and refreshing tailgate bites and finger foods to have at anytime.
Not to surprise, I can eat at least 10-15 dumplings just by myself. #lol
Dumplings can be sweet or savory, and can be prepared with whatever ingredients and recipes.
For instance, Malaysia has just launched the first plant-based dumpling outlet that collaborated by the new specialized plant-based meat dumpling franchise Dumpling Kings and plant-based meats foodtech company Phuture Daging.
The collaboration created the humble dumplings that can be shared among Malaysians, regardless of dietary or religious restrictions.

A little bit information about Dumpling Kings and Phuture Daging.
Given the increasing interest in plant-based diets, Dumpling Kings aims to serve Muslim consumers with more dumplings varieties and healthier options. They are going to launch in Klang Valley in the fourth quarter of 2020 and open its model to business partners for expansion in 2021.
On the other hand, Phuture Daging is the first halal-certified plant-based meat company in Malaysia, a subsidiary of food technology company Phuture Foods, which was listed in the Good Food Institute's top 100 protein disruptors in Asia. The company supports local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) who want to incorporate plant-based offerings into their menu. 
The brand new partnership will help entrepreneurs make their mark in the plant-based space by providing in sourcing, financing, and marketing in place, offering new freshly-made dumpling offerings to Muslim consumers as well as health-conscious foodies. 


The tagline Dumplings for All is fulfilled by making healthy plant-based dumplings, typically meat-based accessible to all Malaysians.
This is a perfect fit with Phuture Daging’s ethos in producing halal plant-based meat from local ingredients, as their offerings are not only more affordable, but more socially and environmentally conscious. 


Lyn and her co-founder Shawn from Dumpling Kings plan to advance the collaboration with Phuture Daging through a franchising model that provide entrepreneurship opportunity for aspiring young entrepreneur in Malaysia plan to take the collaboration with Phuture Daging further in 2021, opening up the Dumpling Kings brand to young entrepreneurs who need a leg-up into the plant-based food sector, while at the same time, Phuture Daging general manager Datin Maziah Binti Omar promises Phuture Daging's experienced R&D and culinary team will continue to support and assist Dumpling Kings to incorporate plant-based solutions into their menu.
The collaboration will see the opening of Malaysia’s first Dumpling Kings outlet offering a fully-halal, plant-based menu in the 4th quarter of 2020.

So excited to have the chance to try the four different dumpling flavours from Dumpling Kings' menu; spicy mala, kimchi, chives, and mushroom cabbage that served in 2 preparation styles, pan-fried and boiled options.


Pan-fried Mushroom Cabbage Dumplings

All dumplings are made with a mixture of plant-based meat and vegetables. 
This mix is added to the flattened dough which handmade fresh by authentic dumpling chefs before the ingredients are meticulously sealed in. 
That way, Dumpling Kings maintains the original flavour of chives dumplings without compromising on taste and texture even while using plant-based meat.


Mushroom Cabbage Dumplings

Phuture Daging’s plant-based meats are freshly made, sourced from local farms and processed in compliance with halal practices. 
They use non-GMO soy, which is cholesterol-free with low calories and high protein content. 
There is also no added hormones or antibiotics, it is Muslim, Buddist, vegan and vegetarian-friendly in addition to being cruelty-free.


Pan-fried Chives Dumplings paired with Japanese rice

Pan fried SPicy Mala Dumplings

The pan-grilled dumplings are juicy on the inside, while staying crispy and golden brown on the outside thanks to a delicate balance between pan-frying and steaming.
Dumplings are first pan-grilled on high heat until crispy brown on the bottom. 


Spicy Mala Dumplings in Soup

A splash of water is added, and the pan is covered quickly to steam the dumplings. 
This results in a mix of textures, with dumplings being crispy at the bottom and soft at the top while the insides remain juicy. 


Pan-fried Kimchi Dumplings

All different flavours of dumplings are served steaming hot with Dumpling Kings’ signature ginger soy sauce and vinegar as well as a splash of chili oil.


These plant-based dumplings are a great treat for everyone!
Not only they are tasty, the dumplings are also healthy, satisfying and suitable for all ages.
I enjoyed every single dumpling on my plate, but if you asked me what's my most favourite, my choices are the kimchi and mushroom cabbage.
The kimchi has a subtle spice kick and the mushroom cabbage making them taste like smoldering meatloaf.
