Tommy Thongchai Thai Gastrobar, Thai Fusion Restaurant & Bar @ The Square, Jaya One

Anyone love Thai food like I do?
Today I would like to introduce a newly opened Thai restaurant, Tommy Thongchai Thai Gastrobar that serves traditional Thai food but with a twist of modern flavour.
In Malaysia, there are many Thai restaurants offering traditional Thai food with original Thai herbs and spices, indeed we are all overwhelmed with too many choices.
I visited Tommy Thongchai during last week to try out their food and beverages; a very cozy place to visit, ambiance is nice and the food is so delicious.
The most exciting part is their creative used of ingredients and also cooking methods to create their unique flavour and punch to tantalize your taste buds.
I love most of their food, so I'm hoping to share this new place with you all!
If you are looking for a proper dining place to enjoy some modern Thai food which are cooked with a modern twist yet infused traditional Thai flavours, you should make a trip down to Tommy Thongchai Thai Gastrobar, I'm sure you will enjoy everything at the restaurant  like I do! :)

Newly opened, Tommy Thongchai Thai Gastrobar is a Thai fusion restaurant & bar that located in the heart of Petaling Jaya.
It is situated inside The Square, Jaya One, one of the bustling dining and drinking place in the town.

The restaurant is perfect for small casual, intimate dining and also suitable to organize a large group events or celebrations.
There are many different seating available that could sit up for 10 pax or more.
Well, I have to admit that it's entire cool and cozy interior makes me an interior crush when I first stepped into the restaurant! :)

Shall we begin the food post with some starters first?
Kale Salad With A Crunch @ RM22 is made with lots of fresh kale, topping with some Thai chili flakes and also Thongchai's in-house made kale dressing.
If you like kale, you have to check this out!

I love everything with pomelo, so this Yum Som-O (Thai Pomelo Salad) @ RM26 is my top favourite. :)
The pomelo is the highlight of this salad as they are imported all the way from Thailand.
Other than the pomelo, the salad also mixed with some white prawns and then drenched with Yum Som-O dressing.
Another reason I'm loving this salad is because of it's well balance of hot, sour, salty and sweet tastes.

Here's a healthy version of salad that you can enjoy with, Thongchai's Sizzling Caesar @ RM26, that packed with whole romaine lettuce, spam croutons, Thongchai's caesar dressing, and onsen egg.

The Tommy's Platter @ RM85 (extra large size) is worth a try if you come here with a group of friends or family members.
This large platter is spread with 8 different dishes, such as fried calamari, fried pork belly, fried pork riblets, Chiang Mai sausage, pulled pork fries, Thongchai's nachos, luncheon meat fries, and moo ping skewers.
The platter are all made with love and presented beautifully, definitely an impressive platter that you do not want to miss out!

Thongchai's Mango Salsa Nachos @ RM16 (medium size) and RM28 (extra large size) will be a great finger food platter to pair with a cold glass of beer.
It's not the regular nachos we have at the other places, because the nachos are made with wonton skins, and then topped with mango salsa and coriander aioli to create an unique Thai flavour.
I like the taste of coriander aioli dressing, so refreshing. :)

Grilled skewers are always my favourite Thai street food when I visit Thailand.
And here's the top picks of the Charcoal Grilled Skewers at Tommy Thongchai, ranging from RM5 - RM19; Moo Ping (Thai Pork Collar), Pork intestines, Laard Moo Tod (Thai Minced Pork Balls), pork belly, chicken thigh, Australian Lamb Shoulder, and Australian beef tongue.
Each grilled skewers are grilled to tender perfection, and the meats are way too juicy!
It's a must try!

There are many main courses available on the menu, one of the signature is the Tommy's Burger & Buns series.
Their signature, Thongchai's Tonkatsu Burger @ RM28 is stuffed with pork tonkatsu cutlet and also  homemade tonkatsu sauce.
If you want something spicy, you can have a try on their Laarb Lamb Moo Tod Burger @ RM28 that comes with deep fried Thai herb pork patty, as well as laarb slaw.
My favourite goes to Krapao Pork Burger @ RM28 that filled with juicy krapao pork patty and a fried egg.
All these little surprise Thai twist burgers makes a great-tasting burger!
Oh, did I forget to mention that each burger set comes with their in-house Thongchai's french fries too?!

Black Angus Steak Fries @ RM127 (285g) and RM149 (340g) offers a choice between 10oz or 12oz grain fed black angus ribeye, isaan marinated or Thongchai's dry rub charcoal grilled, as well as golden Thongchai french fries.
It's beef tenderloin is so juicy and delicious that you'll be wanting to come back for more!

Pan Seared Salmon Trout with Mango Salsa @ RM59, a rich and flavourful salmon pairs beautifully with fantastic sweet and tangy sauce that made with mangoes.
The salmon is very well baked that comes out moist and grease, and also the salsa sauce is so fresh, healthy and delicious too!

Have you ever tried the Pork leg stew rice in Thailand before?
That's my most favourite food in Thailand!
Glad to know that Tommy Thongchai has their special made Pork Trotter Rice @ RM21, which comes with braised pork trotter in Thai style, kai lan, hanjuku egg, and Thai Jasmine rice.
Such a sinful meal for your lunch or dinner fix. :)

In addition, they also have Pineapple Fried Rice with Charcoal Grilled Pork Belly on their new menu.
It's a very good Thai fried rice, packed with pork skewers, fried egg and also crispy crackers as the side dishes.

By nightfall, Tommy Thongchai is humming, thanks to the collection of locally-inspired yummy selection of unique Thai cocktails that specially prepared by their mixologist.
Also, the bar currently is having different drinking promotions, for instance, get any 10 draft beers of your choice to get a free XL nachos that worth RM35, and also 50% off on all tequilas on Tequilas Friday night as well as 50% off on all vodkas on vodka Saturday night till 30 Nov 2019.

Must try, Tom Kha Cocktail @ RM34' vodka infuse with chili, coconut milk, fresh milk, lemongrass and lime.

Another interesting cocktail to try, Thong Kao @ RM38, which prepared with mango juice, lime, cinnamon, star anise, Mekhong rum, sambuca & Angustura Bitters.

Tommy Thongchai is an all-day gastrobar for a reviving, chilled-out treat, enjoying good food and fancy drinks after a day at work
My personal recommendation from their menu will be the Tommy's Platter, Krapao Pork Burger as well as the Charcoal Grilled Skewers.
So, after reading such a long post, are you ready for a visit at Tommy Thongchai Thai Gastrobar? :)
