A Journey of Flavours and Spirits @ Chiqui Don Damansara Heights

Hey guys!
How are things going? I hope all is well.
It's September now, another three more months left until the end of 2020..
I know it's been a difficult year for everyone, but hang on there, soon we will welcome a brand new year and new hopes together! :)
Anyway, it's been a long time since I share about food and beverages.
Do you guys missing my food blog? Please say YES! #lol
And today, I'm back with a special dining experience, a gastronomic adventure of food and wine at Chiqui Don together with Albert Wines & Spirits Malaysia.
It was a great dining experience to learn how Asian flavours can be enhanced as well as Western flavours with the right types of wine.
So, are you ready to check this out with me? :)

Chiqui Don is a kitchen and bar located at Damansara Heights that serves fusion dishes inspired by Asian and Western cuisines.
It's a not difficult to find the restaurant as it is a corner shop lot located facing to the main road, a truly well location it's been located.

The restaurant is designed with a modern interior and beautiful lighting to create an ambience suitable for both patrons looking for drink as well as families coming in for a meal.
Since it is located at the corner shop lot, the restaurant is spacious for a casual meal or a big party celebration, where both the indoor and outdoor seating areas can hold up to 120 pax.

From outside, you will be able to see the eye-catching yellow seats which is one of Chiqui Don's signature details that you can't miss. :)

It's my pleasure to join the special collaboration of "A Journey of Flavours and Spirits" by Albert Wines & Spirits Malaysia together with Chiqui Don.
It was a truly unforgettable afternoon that comes with good food and also wine pairing together with David Stephen, who is the French sommelier from Wine Talk.

Spier, one of the oldest farms in South Africa, is located in Stellenbosch.
The Seaward range is made from Seward grapes, selected from South Africa's top coastal areas where it is grown in a narrow band close to the ocean.
For this special occasion, the choices of white wine will be the Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc while the red wine will be the Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage.

The exclusive 3-course menu, fusion of local and global flavours was designed by head chef, Vimal Kumar.
Each dish has been carefully matched with Seaward wines and enjoyed alongside the guided tastings by the sommelier.

The meal began with 4 different signature starters that recommended by the head chef at Chiqui Don.
Watermelon & Feta Cheese Salad is a cool refreshing healthy perfect salad to start up with, and good to pair with the Spier 'Seaward' Sauvignon Blanc, a rich aromas of green figs, grass and ripe tropical fruit.
In a plate, combine char-grilled watermelon, sun-dried tomatoes, cucumber ribbons, chopped olive, aged balsamic, and then topped with walnuts & crumbled feta cheese.

Then, we had the Chili Crab Dip, which is my most favourite starters among the others.
It's a stir-fried crab meat mixed with homemade chili paste & spices, and dipped with fried mantou buns.
It has an amazing combination of sweet and spicy flavours that I like, and the best part is pairing the wonderful rich and thick chili crab source with the Spier 'Seaward' Chenin Blanc which tastes like fresh fruit. #yum

Garlic Chili Sea Bass is my another favourite that I would recommend to fish lovers.
The dish comes with a grilled sea bass sauteed in olive oil with chopped garlic & chili flakes.
The dipping sauce is perfect paired with warm crusty garlic bread, as well as a glass of Spier 'Seaward' Chenin Blanc

Greek Meatballs is an Australian beef meatballs baked in tomato herb sauce, topped with feta cheese, and served with garlic bread.
It is recommended to be paired with Spier 'Seaward' Cabernet Sauvignon, a red wine that has a rich and complex middle palat of the blackcurrant, black berries, cherries and cedar notes and also a balanced freshness complimented by sweet oak.

I love risoto, and everytime when I visited a restaurant that they served risoto, I will try it for sure!
This Wild Mushroom Truffle Risoto, cooked with Arborio rice, with truffle pate, wild mushrooms & cream.
It's nice to pair the dish with Spier 'Seaward' Pinotage, a medium-to-full bodied wine which gives hints of all spice and vanilla from the black berries and mulberry.

A beautiful set of Roasted Chicken Chicken on the table.
The chicken is grilled perfectly with their homemade spicy Asian sauce, and then served with truffle mash & sauteed vegetables.
It paired well with Spier 'Seaward' Chenin Blanc which offers fresh fruit and lively acidity on finishing.

A sweet ending to the culinary experience....
Sizzling Chocolate Fondant, a warm soft chocolate fondant with molten chocolate core, topped with Tillamook vanilla ice-cream.

Chiqui Don is place where everyone can come for daily dining and cocktails.
It has a nice and cozy ambience with yummy food, and also friendly staffs.
Me and my friends love it and enjoyed our sweet time there.
Once again, thanks for having me and I really had a great time with all the pairing wines and the amazing food served.
Thank you and till we meet again!
