Tetley Malaysia @ The Art of Tea Blending by Sebastian Michaelis

Hello tea lovers, are you here?
Tetley, a Britain's iconic tea brand has it's first launching in Southeast Asia in Malaysia.
This brand was established since 1837, and also happens to be the second largest tea distributor, as well as tea manufacturer in the world.
Tetley has a team of 47 different countries of the world, and specialize in bringing quality tea leaves from different tea regions together to create a perfect cup of tea.
It is an honour and a privilege to be invited to participate in the art of tea blending which hosted by Sebastian Michaelis, a Tetley tea master from England.
It was a fantastic section with Mr. Sebastian to learn the difference between varieties of teas, and their uniqueness.

A brief background about the Tetley here.
Tetley tea is made from the young leaves and unopened buds of the plant, Camellia sinensis.
The tea leaves are sourced from 11 countries across 3 continents, from the lush valleys and tropical islands that make up the tea growing regions in the world.
Tetley prides itself for it's heritage of 180 years of perfecting the art of blending tea.

In additional, Tetley is also one of the founding members of the Ethical Tea Partnership, helping to create a thriving, global tea industry that is socially fair and environmental sustainable.
More than 50% of Tetley tea worldwide is now Rainforest Alliance Certified.
At Tetley, they are committed to ensure a better life not only for their farmers, but also better tea the tea lovers, and a better environment for everyone.

During the art of tea blending session with Mr. Sebastian, there are some good tips of making a perfect cup of tea that I would like to share with you all:
#1 Do not use re-boiling water for making any teas because it reduces oxygen levels and affects taste.
#2 Different teas required different temperature, for instance green tea requires water temperature at 80 degrees, while boiling water is perfect for any black teas.
#3 Warm up the teapot by pouring some boiling water so that it keeps the water temperature same as the brewed tea.
#4 Swirl the teabag around the cup to bring out tea's flavour. You can also squeeze the teabag a little bit, but not too much if you would like to have a strong tea's flavour.
#5 Once brewed, let it cool for about 2 minutes before drinking.
#6 Teabags get to dry out easily, hence it's better to keep them in any airtight containers in cool dark places to make sure the teas are fresh.

The quality of a Tetley blend is graded by assessing the tea leaf and tea liquid, using an unique language called Uhuru.
By the tea leaf: Tetley testers examine and grade the leaf density, colour and record the shape, form and size of the leaf.
By the tea liquid: Tetley testers assess sparkle (purity of the colour), colour (from a deep red up to a bright yellow), body (the weight of the tea in the mouth), and zing (overall liveliness of the tea on the palate).
