Yuk Sou Hin 玉寿轩, Tea Lounge, The Deck Gastrobar @ WEIL Hotel

Hello! Hello!
After sharing with you all about the hotel rooms and facilities at WEIL Hotel in Ipoh, it's time to talk about my food adventures, from brunch, high-tea to fine dine at this 4-star hotel.
As the main purpose of this Ipoh trip is to have a relaxing break with my girls, so we thought of doing nothing adventurous or planning any special activities, but just laid back at the hotel to chill and spend some quality times together.
That's also one of the reason we choose WEIL Hotel for our trip instead of the others. :p
So, this post is gonna be a long post because I'm gonna try my best to share all the info and food pictures with you guys.
Hopefully you will bear with me until the end, and also hope you guys enjoy reading it too ya!

Yuk Sou Hin 玉寿轩

I'm gonna start my food trails with my brunch date at Yuk Sou Hin 玉寿轩. :)
Yuk Sou Hin is located at level 1, inside the WEIL Hotel Ipoh.
It's a pork-free restaurant that specializing in classic Cantonese delicacies, and also dim sum specialties.
The moment you stepped into the restaurant, you will delighted by the elegant yet classic ambiance, and also administered by friendly staffs with great smiles.

The decor of the restaurant is simply stunning with high ceilings, ornate chandeliers and beautiful parquet flooring.
There are many seating available inside the restaurant, include round table settings for small and big groups, and also seating booths that look similar like the Hong Kong Char Chan Teng style.
All the decor and setting give the place a very vintage Hong Kong feel. :)

We had their Dim Sum Brunch Buffet @ RM48++ (for adult), and RM38++ (for children), that offering a wide variety of pork-free traditional Chinese dim sums.
It's a special promotion starts on 15th July 2019 to 13th September 2019, from 11am till 230pm everyday.
Choices of dim sum can be chosen from their buffet menu as well as Ala Carte menu, and ordering can be made through ticking your choices on the menu sheet or you can also pick the dishes at their dim sum buffet counter right at the back of the restaurant.

Here's some of the top notch and highly recommended steamed dim sum to try, like Steamed Vegetarian Dumpling 香斋八宝袋, Pan-Fried Siew Mai with Crab Roe 鱼子串烧卖, Pan-Fried Capsicum Stuffed Fish Paste 煎彩椒 and Steamed Prawn Dumpling 金牌虾饺皇.
These dumplings were steamed to just right textures without over cooking, and also prepared with full of chopped ingredients as well as whole shrimps encased in it.

Barbecue Honey Glazed Chicken Bun 雪山包, Deep-Fried Chives Dumpling with Prawn 韭菜鲜虾角, Deep-Fried Avocado Roll with Shredded Kataifi 牛油果龙顺卷, and Crispy Fried Bean Curd Roll with Shrimp 鲜虾腐皮卷 are the deep-fried selections that worth a try.
My top favourite goes to the Avocado Roll with Shredded Kataifi that comes with creamy-hot fresh avocado filling and crunchy-not-oily kataifi wrapping.
It's way tooo delicious!

Appetizers like Roast Duck Salad 烧鸭沙律 and Cucumber with Garlic 京城拍黄瓜 are really a good start to stimulate the appetizer before the buffet menu.
Personally, the smoked duck was superb as it is because the freshness and the crunchiness of the vegetables were melted nicely with the tender juicy duck breast, however I think the cucumbers were not marinated enough with vinegar on the cucumber salads as the sourness of the taste is not mingle.
Anyway, the Chinese cuisine hot dishes such as Braised Eggplant with Salted Fish and Chili 鱼香茄子 as well as Wok-Fried Bean Curd with Chili and Garlic 避风塘豆腐 are also very impressing with the fragrance of the wok.

In addition, both Yuk Sou Hin Hot and Sour Soup 玉寿轩酸辣汤 and Wok-Fried Rice Vermicelli with Mixed Vegetables 素菜焖米粉 represented a classy home-cooked dish with a touch of hotel style.
Our top favourite, Hot and Sour Soup; a hearty, spicy, sour broth that loaded with mushrooms, tofu, black fungus and fish maw is a must try that will make you to come back for more after you have a taste on it. :)

We love the dim sums right here at Yuk Sou Hin.
I think it's value-for-money with the comfortable environment in a 4-star hotel, and also the waitresses were so friendly and welcoming.
Well, not to forget about the quality of food were fresh and the portions were very generous too.
I would say that the pork-free dim sums here are an eye-opener for me since I've never tried any pork-free dim sum restaurants in KL before.
So, being told pork-free at the first place, I didn't have any high expectation and anticipation at all, but after the first round serving of the dim sums, I was totally blown out!
For dim sum lovers, Yuk Sou Hin can be considered as dim sum paradise for you all!

Tea Lounge

The Tea Lounge is located at the first floor.
Loving the warm, and cozy vibes that presented around the corner!
Everything at the lounge is looking perfect, especially the interior design and furniture are looking so cool and chic.
It's really a great place to chill at, either you come here for a chat with someone, have a business discussion or distress yourself with a relaxing atmosphere.

Here's the 3-Tier Hi-Tea for our lovely afternoon after we checked-in our room.
This High-Tea set for 2 @ RM64 ++ is available from 12pm  to 5pm daily.
Their afternoon tea set consists of a choices of coffee or tea, three-tier delectable with a good balance of both sweet items and savoury food such as sandwiches, cakes, macaroons in the set, and a plate of scones.

The choices of coffee includes decaffeinated coffee, freshly brewed coffee, Espresso, Cappuccino and Latte, while the choices of tea has Malabar Chai, Honeydew Green, Oriental Jasmine Green, Chamomile Blossoms, Peppermint, Lemongrass Ginger, South Melbourne Breakfast, French Earl Grey, My Marrakech and Kiwi Berry.

Top Tier consists of delectable cakes and pastries such as Macadamia Cake, Coffee Cheesecake, Fresh Raspbery Mousse, Durian Meringue Tart, Lemon Curd Eclair, Salted Egg Macaron, Pistachio Macaron and Mille-Feuille.
Coffee Cheesecake is one of their best seller that many customers will come back for that.

Second Tier includes four savouries, like Scotch Eggs, Lamb Rendang with Mashed Potatoes, Petits Farcis and Fish Cakes.
Lamb Rendang with Mashed Potatoes is really such a comfort food to enjoy on this palate, and the Scotch Eggs that wrapped in sausage, breaded, and deep fried to golden perfection are such a perfect portable snack to have on an afternoon tea time.

Finally, on the third palate, it's all about mini burgers and sandwiches, like Smoked Salmon Brioche, Multigrain Egg Mayo and Tune Finer Sandwich.
My girl friend, Kay likes the Multigrain Egg Mayo, and myself enjoyed the thick-sliced salmon on the Smoked Salmon Brioche. :)

How can an afternoon tea time ended without a scone?
As usual, after the selection of delicate sandwiches and pastries, warm scones were served with strawberry jam and clotted cream.
I feel that the scone size is slightly smaller than usual, but it's totally fine for us as I don't think we can finish it after the 3-tier high-tea menu if it comes with the normal size scone. #lol

I really love the environment at the Tea Lounge.
It's really a nice cozy and comfort place to enjoy a cup of coffee or have an afternoon tea time with your friends and families.
Not to mention the good variety of food and pastries, the place also has nice ambiance, excellent services, and lovely live music to make your day awesome!

The Deck Gastrobar

Welcome to The Deck! :)
In the evening, we headed over to The Deck Gastrobar for our dinner date.
The restaurant is located at the rooftop, 13th floor inside the WEIL Hotel, which offers a very pleasing dining and drinking atmosphere and a beautiful panoramic view over the bustling Ipoh town.

When we arrived, we were welcomed by the waitresses politely with great smiles.
The entire restaurant has a sexy atmosphere, with dim lighting, modern interior design, and trendy furniture.
The music playing in the restaurant was also very welcoming and give a friendly feeling.

Nice view over the Ipoh city.
Well. we were supposed to catch the sunset on that night, but unfortunately the weather wasn't very good with some rains. :(

Before we kicked start our dinner, we had Coz Salad @ RM26 from the Cold Starter, and also Creamy Mushroom Soup @ RM18 from the Soup menu.
The Coz Salad is prepared with romaine lettuce, salmon rose, toasted garlic bread, poached egg and drenched with the signature "Deck" dressing, while the Creamy Mushroom Soup is the chef's specialty mushroom soup served with enoki dumpling and truffle oil.

Then, our main course with Freshwater Prawn Risotto @ RM70, that served with aged Parmesan Cheese, Asparagus, King Oyster Mushroom, and Freshwater Prawn cooked in a flavorful creamy Italian Rice Dish.
Overall, the dish was cooked to my expectation as for a risotto dish, but the taste was not meet my preference as I personally think the overall taste is a bit at the salty side.

It's Saturday night, some drinks, why not?! :)
Here's the Deck Signature Mojito Series; Very Berry Mojito and Lychee Mojito @ RM35 each.
Both drinks are great to enjoy on a warms days in Ipoh.

I love the sweet yet refreshing taste from the Verry Berry much.

Some desserts before we headed back to end our first night.
Loving the Molten Chocolate Lava @ RM15 that served with vanilla ice-cream and honey comb.
Can't remember the name of the other dessert we had, it's a kind of jelly dessert that stuffed with some fruits and topped with whipped cream.

Personally, I would said The Deck Gastrobar offers an average food taste, but the environment and surrounding at the restaurant is fantastic for dinner for two, or a gathering for a small group, and also the services was so good that you'll wonder if someone thinks you're famous. #lol
All in all, great evening at The Deck Gastrobar, and couldn't ask for more!
